Take Action

Repeal the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act of 2020

Crime in the District of Columbia has reached 20-year highs. MPD police officer staffing levels are the lowest in 50 years.

Five years ago, the D.C. City Council began quietly forcing your Metropolitan Police Officers out the door when they passed the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act of 2020, which stripped D.C. police officers of their basic employee and due process rights.

Since that bill passed, MPD has lost over 1,600 officers.

This mass exodus and public safety crisis is a direct result of the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Amendment Act of 2020, passed by the D.C. Council without the signature of Mayor Bowser.

While we continue to see a mass exodus from MPD, crime rates continue to rise.

D.C. had 274 homicides in 2023.

Offense% Change
Homicide 34%
Carjacking 103%
Robbery 69%
Violent Crime 39%
Car Theft 87%
All Crimes 27%

Enough Is Enough!
