There were two homicides and several violent crimes reported in the District this week • Darryl Knight, 37, was identified as the man who was shot and killed in the Anacostia neighborhood Monday night. Three men were described as suspects, and DC Police are actively investigating the incident. • David Blakeney, 53, was fatally stabbed in the Barry Farm neighborhood on Monday. Authorities are investigating the homicide, and no further information is available at this time. • An unidentified man was unresponsive when he was found after a stabbing near Stanton Park Sunday afternoon. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are actively investigating the incident. • Two men were shot and critically wounded Friday night in the Douglass neighborhood in Southeast. No further details are available at this time. • A photo was released of two men armed with assault rifles who attempted to rob another vehicle in the Brightwood Park neighborhood. DC Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the suspects.

There was one homicide and several violent crimes reported in the District this week • Leoncio Loza, 75, was stabbed multiple times in Kenilworth Park last month and has died from his injuries. AuthoritIes are actively investigating the incident and are seeking the public’s assistance in the case. • A video was released of a suspect wanted in connection with shooting and killing a man and injuring another in a broad daylight shooting in the Douglass neighborhood. DC Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect. • Terik McLeod was arrested and charged on Wednesday with killing Devaun Drayton and a witness to the murder, Carlton Fisher. The suspect allegedly killed Mr. Dayton 13 years ago after they had an argument about a gun. • Devone L. Foote, 35, was arrested and charged with sexually abusing seven teenage girls at Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. Alex Thomas-Dorsey, 27, was arrested twice in as many days after he was caught exposing himself on a metro train and a bus on Monday night and Tuesday morning. • A woman was stabbed in a domestic incident Tuesday night near Lincoln Park. The victim was conscious and breathing when first responders arrived, and no suspect information is available at this time. • Arieyana Forney, 11, was rescued by DC Police after she was allegedly kidnapped by her uncle, Curtis Atkinson, Jr., who is also wanted for killing the girl’s grandparents on Sunday. An Amber Alert was issued for Arieyana Forney before she was found in a car crash late Sunday night near the Tidal Basin. • An image was released of Leonard Martino Smith, 30, who is wanted in connection with the stabbing death of Leonte Butler, 25, in the Bellevue neighborhood. DC Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect.

There were multiple homicides and several violent crimes reported in the District this week • Nathaniel Davis, Maurice Nathaniel Jackson, and Daquan Hooks were shot and killed in Southeast this past weekend. No suspect information is available at this time, and DC Police are actively investigating the incidents. • A man was shot and wounded Friday night in the Trinidad neighborhood on Friday night. The unidentified victim was found unconscious and unresponsive when first responders arrived. • Antwan Jones, 31, was shot and killed while sitting inside of a vehicle near Turner Elementary School in the Congress Heights neighborhood. Another man was also shot inside of the vehicle, and authorities are actively investigating the incident. • Bernard Coleman III, 23, was arrested and charged in connection with fatally shooting his father near Congress Heights. • El Hadji Alpha Madiou Toure, 28, was arrested in connection with the stabbing death of Corrina Mehiel, who was found tied up in a basement apartment on Capitol HIll. According to reports, the suspect allegedly did not know the vicitm, and the victim may have been targeted in a robbery. • Lionel Stacey Bruce of Northeast, a 58-year-old pedestrian, has died from injuries he sustained when he was struck by a vehicle in the Deanwood neighborhood. Authorities have charged Michael Anthony Fenderson second-degree murder and driving under the influence. • Maurice Delonte Dawkins and Joseph Reginald Ward were both arrested and charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl in the basement of a home in the Randle Highlands neighborhood. The suspects are being held without bond, as DC Police continue to investigate the incident.

There were four homicides and several violent crimes reported in the District this week • Corrina Mehiel, 34, was found fatally stabbed late Tuesday afternoon. According to reports, the victim was found tied up and stabbed to death in a Capitol Hill apartment. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a 2004 Toyota Prius with the following Kentucky tag: 722 KMY. • Ayana J. McAllister, 19, was shot and killed Monday night near the Benning Road Metro station. The victim was a college freshman, who returned home from school for spring break when she and another woman were shot. • A man was stabbed in the head along a bike path in Kenilworth Park on Tuesday afternoon. The victim is suffering from life-threatening wounds, and authorities are actively investigating the incident. • Adam Murray, 24, was arrested and charged with kidnapping two women against their will in a LeDroit Park neighborhood home over the weekend. Neither of the victims was injured in the incident. • Steven Edward Stewart Jr., 33, and Bernard Coleman, 43, were fatally shot Friday morning about four miles apart in the Fairlawn and Congress Heights neighborhoods, respectively. Authorities are actively investigating the incidents, which appear to be unrelated.

There were three homicides and several violent crimes reported in the District this week • Dennis Lee Wise, 51, and Leonte Butler, 26, were stabbed and killed in separate cases on Saturday in the Fort Stanton and Bellevue neighborhoods, respectively. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are actively investigating the incidents. • Tyrone Johnson, 24, was fatally shot Friday morning near Twining Square in Southeast, and no suspect information is available at this time. • A series of videos have been released in connection with four separate homicide cases in the District. Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the persons of interest in the videos.• Mark Elder Allen-Gifford, a 31-year-old teacher at Georgetown Day, was arrested Friday and charged over the weekend with child sex abuse. According to reports, the suspect allegedly touched and kissed a 14-year-old girl.

There were two homicides and several violent crimes reported in the District this week • Andrew McPhatter, 28, died from injuries he sustained in a shooting this past Wednesday in the Congress Heights neighborhood. The victim was one of six people shot on Wheeler Road SE over a seven day span, and DC Police believe a neighborhood dispute is responsible for the recent uptick in violence. • A juvenile girl was reportedly raped by two men after she was attacked by a group near Gallery Place on Sunday night. Authorities are actively investigating the incident. • DC Police are investigating an incident that left a man dead and a construction worker facing a possible homicide charge. From what witness told police, an argument arose over a parking spot and the construction worker punched the victim who died the next day in a hospital. • Delontra Omar Alexander died after he was shot early Saturday morning in an apartment complex in the Skyland neighborhood. Authorities found the victim bleeding in a stairwell before he ultimately passed. No suspect information is available at this time and authorities are actively investigating the incident. • Wednesday night, there was a nationwide outage of 911 service that affected AT&T wireless customers in the District. The outage lasted about 90 minutes and 911 service has been restored.

There was a homicide and several violent crimes in the District this week • James Mace III, 31, was fatally shot Monday in the Truxton Circle neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time, and DC Police are actively investigating the incident. • Three men, a woman, and a juvenile male were injured Thursday night in two separate shootings in the Brentwood neighborhood and along Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast. All five victims were transported to a local hospital. • A man is in critical condition after he was shot Wednesday morning in the Congress Heights neighborhood. A weapon was recovered at the scene of the crime, and DC Police are actively investigating the incident. • Christopher L. Graham, 44, was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a person on Wednesday, February 15 near the NoMa Metro station. • Paolo Aldorasi, who resides in London, was arrested in Seattle on Friday and charged with kidnapping a Georgetown student and drove him to banks and jewelry stores trying to obtain money. • Manuel Garcia Fernandez, a 35-year-old teacher in a public charter school, was charged with second-degree child abuse. The suspect allegedly had sexual contact with two female victims and one male victim.

There was a homicide and several violent crimes in the District this week • Kenny Bell, 30, was shot and killed near the Washington Highland Recreation Center. No suspect information is available at this time, and DC Police are actively investigating the incident. • An arrest warrant was issued for Gary O’Neal Bell, a 24-year-old who is wanted for juvenile sex trafficking. The suspect has been allegedly offering an underage girl for sexual encounters, and authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect. • Ronald Perry Berton, 42, was charged with kidnapping and raping a woman near Adams Morgan in 2007. The suspect is already in prison after he was convicted of raping a woman in her Arlington apartment in 2010. • A man was stabbed Tuesday night near the Navy Yard neighborhood. The victim was conscious and breathing when authorities arrived, and DC Police are searching for a male suspect last seen wearing a black jacket. • Cyheme Hall, 21, was arrested by DC Police and charged with the first-degree murder of Deeniquia Dodds, a 22-year-old transgender woman killed on July 4th. The suspect was the fourth person arrested in connection with the case.

There was a homicide and several violent crimes in the District this week. • Derronn Stover, 17, was shot and killed Sunday night in the Benning neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are actively investigating the incident. • Cheval Reid, 25, was fatally shot early Tuesday morning in the Brookland neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time, and DC Police are actively investigating this incident. • After Carolyn Ellis, 65, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, DC Police arrested David Phillip Jones, 36, and charged him second-degree murder. • After Ronnell Tye Reaves, 22, was killed in a shooting last month, Matthew Moore, 32, was arrested and charged in connection with the homicide. • Wlliam Charlie Bowman, 27, was arrested in Atlanta and extradited to the District as he was charged with the second-degree murder of James Dorsey, Jr., 37, on January 10th. The suspect is the second person charged in the case. • Nathaniel Taylor, 23, was identified as a second suspect in connection with the killing of Nuru Frenche, 23, in the Deanwood neighborhood in April of this past year. DC Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect. • Si’Onna Branison, 10, was struck by a hit-and-run driver last week, and she suffered multiple broken bones. DC Police have seized the striking vehicle, as they continue to investigate the case.

There was a homicide and several violent crimes in the District this week. • Wilson Agbebaku, 34, was fatally shot Sunday evening in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are actively investigating the incident. • Si’Onna Branison, 10, was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Petworth neighborhood. The victim broke five bones in her face, two bones in her leg, and suffered a fractured neck in the incident. DC Police are searching for two women last seen driving a gray vehicle. • DC Police are actively searching for Elliot Avery Starks, 34, in connection with the stabbing death of Antina Cindette Pratt, 40, in November 2016. The victim was found dead in the Barry Farm neighborhood, and authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect. • A photo was released of a man wanted in connection with kidnapping a Georgetown University student and subsequently taking the student to several ATM machines to withdraw money. DC Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect.

There was a homicide and several violent crimes in the District this week. • A video was released of a man firing a gun Tuesday afternoon in an incident that took the life of Willie Starkey, 35. The shooting took place behind a laundromat near the Hechinger Mall, and DC Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the person of interest. • Victor Purdie, 56, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, after he allegedly attacked Richard Lewis, 57, outside of Union Station. • Authorities are investigating three shootings that took place within an hour on Wednesday. In total, there were seven victims, four of which were juvenile males. • A man was shot behind a liquor store near Nationals Park Tuesday morning. The victim’s injuries are non-life threatening, and according to police, the incident was the result of an isolated dispute.

There were several homicides and violent crimes in the District this week. • According to a DC Police affidavit, Waliyatou Amadou was fatally stabbed by Deangelo Demetrius Thorne, 27, following an argument. The victim, the suspect, and another person were allegedly arguing outside of an apartment building about whether a previous sexual encounter was an assault or consensual. The victim went into the building and the suspect followed her as the argument continued and escalated. • Devin Hall, 23, was found fatally shot inside of his vehicle in the Congress Heights neighborhood on Saturday afternoon. Authorities are actively investigating the incident, and no suspect information is available at this time. • A video was released by DC Police of a person of interest wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of Antonias Deangelo Butler, 25, on New Year’s Eve. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect. • A video was released by DC Police of a person of interest wanted in connection with the murder of Richard Lewis, 57. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries from an assault that took place in October near Union Station, and he ultimately succumbed to those injuries on Saturday, January 7th.

There were several violent crimes in the District this week. • A Prince George’s Police Officer was taken to a local hospital, after a man driving a stolen vehicle crashed into two police cruisers in the Carver/Langston neighborhood. The suspect, 25-year-old Michael Anthony Burwell, was arrested and also taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. • Branden J. Dixon, who was arrested on Wednesday for fleeing police with a one-year-old in the car, was also wanted for failing to show up to court in a prostitution case. The suspect and the toddler suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, after the suspect lost control of the car and crashed into a wall. • Shawn J. Brown, 28, was arrested and charged in the shooting death of James Dorsey Jr., 37, in the Takoma neighborhood. Authorities are searching for another suspect related to this incident. • Deana Debrow-Conley, 26, was charged in connection with the death of her one-month-old son. • A woman walking in the woods in the Foxhall Crescent neighborhood found a violin case containing at least one firearm. Authorities also discovered weapons along the C&O Canal, and they are actively investigating the situation.

There were several violent crimes in the District this week. • A woman was forced into a van, robbed and assaulted early Sunday in the Mount Pleasant area. The victim was grabbed by one man and then attacked in the van by two others. After the robbery and assault, she was thrown out near the Woodley Park area. The persons of interest are described as black males in their late 30’s. • Clinton Wolmack, 27, was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Terry Crutchfield, 45, in an apartment building near the Deanwood Metro station on December 6th. The suspect allegedly shot and killed the victim as he attempted to rob people of synthetic marijuana. • Three robberies have been reported in about a week near a single street corner in the Edgewood neighborhood, the most recent on Monday night. In at least two of the robberies the victims were cab drivers and guns were shown in two of the three robberies. No suspect information is available at this time. • Robert Kelsey, 29, of DC, was sentenced to 50 years in prison Monday for sexually abusing an 11-year-old Maryland girl he met through Instagram. Kelsey was previously convicted of being an accessory in the 2005 shooting death of former DC council member Sandy Allen’s grandson, Jon Allen Jr., who was 15.

DC Crime Summary – December 10th - December 16th, 2016

There was one homicide and several other violent crimes in the District this week. • Grant Copeland Dosunmu, 21, of Northwest, was found shot to death Sunday night in a silver Jaguar in the Hawthorne neighborhood. The victim had been shot in the upper back and was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not clear where the shooting occurred. • A man was shot Monday morning in the Eckington neighborhood and then ran into the Harmony Public Charter school nearby. The condition of the man and the status of the suspect are not known at this time. • A man was shot in the arm early Monday during a dispute between a driver and a pedestrian in the Franklin Square area. A police report says the victim was standing near a parked car when another vehicle sped by and clipped him with a mirror. The man told police he turned to confront the driver, and was shot once in the right arm. • Saeve Evans, 30, was charged Saturday with second-degree murder while armed for the shooting death of Breyona McMillian, 16, in the Potomac Gardens apartment complex last month. According to an arrest affidavit filed in court Monday, Evans apparently was aiming at a black Nissan that had sped into a courtyard. • A man was shot in the wrist Wednesday evening in the NOMA neighborhood during a robbery. A bystander told police that the suspects later sped away in a black Nissan Altima with Virginia license plates. • Carmelita Henderson, 49, of Northeast was charged with first-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Levi Kinte Davis, 38, of Baltimore, in September 2015. The shooting took place near the Benning neighborhood. • Bikila Kejella, 18,of Northwest was arrested and charged with first-degree murder while armed in connection with the fatal shooting of Eric Garrett, 23, in September.

DC Crime Summary – December 3rd - December 9th, 2016

There were three homicides and several other violent crimes this week in the District. • A man who was fatally shot Thursday night in the Ivy City neighborhood has been identified as Timothy Pretlow, 45, of Southeast. Police said he had been shot several times. A second man, who lives in Hyattsville, Md., was also shot in the incident. No arrests have been made. • Terry Crutchfield, 45, of Southeast, was fatally shot Tuesday inside a house in the Deanwood neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time. This homicide is the city’s 127th homicide in 2016. Police are investigating the incident and are searching for a shooter. • Victor Anthony Bolden, 26, was fatally shot in his home in the Queens Chapel neighborhood on Thursday evening. The police report says that the inside of the house had been ransacked and property was taken. No suspect information is available. • A man was stabbed and critically wounded in the Grant Park neighborhood late Tuesday night. The man was unconscious but was breathing after the stabbing. • A shooting in the Anacostia neighborhood has left a 26-year-old man critically injured. The man was taken to the hospital with 11 gunshot wounds, and despite his serious injuries he is expected to survive. • Six robberies, at least three of them at gunpoint, were reported Friday night in less than 90 minutes in the Edgewood neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time. • Edgar Maddison Welch, 28, of North Carolina, was arrested Sunday evening for entering Comet Ping Pong in Chevy Chase and pointing an AR-15 assault-style rifle at an employee. The suspect entered the restaurant and pointed his gun at the employee who was working at the time, in an apparent attempt to prove an Internet conspiracy theory that the restaurant harbored juvenile sex slaves. He faces several gun-related charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon. • A man was shot and injured Friday morning in the Deanwood neighborhood. The unidentified man was taken to an area hospital. No suspect information is available.

DC Crime Summary – November 27th - December 2nd, 2016

There were six homicides and several other violent crimes late last week and this week in the District. • Marquette Tyler, 26, of Southeast, was found lying on a sidewalk unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds late Tuesday near the Fairlawn neighborhood. Tyler was pronounced dead at an area hospital. • Breyona McMillian, 16, was fatally shot on Friday morning near the Capitol Hill neighborhood. McMillian, who was visiting family for Thanksgiving, was the unintended target of gunfire when a large group gathered outside of the Potomac Gardens housing complex. The shots are believed to have been fired from a car that sped into a courtyard or driveway at the complex. • A man was killed in a shooting near Barry Farm on Sunday evening. The victim had yet to be identified Sunday night. No suspect information is available. • Babajide Pittman, 31, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of Anthony Young, 27, of Southeast. Young was shot about 1:45 p.m. Sunday near the Navy Yard neighborhood. • Marquette Tibbs, 24, of Southeast, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder while armed for the fatal shooting of Orlando Donald Silver III, 37, near Anacostia on Sunday. • Marcus Barnes, 24, of Temple Hills, was fatally shot near the Washington Highlands neighborhood late Wednesday night. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. No suspect information is available.

There were six homicides and several other violent crimes late last week and this week in the District. • Delano Deonte Jackson, 25, was fatally shot last Thursday in the Parkside neighborhood near the Minnesota Avenue Metro station and Kenilworth Gardens. No suspect information is available. • Samuelle Buie, 25, and Rassaan Jennings, 19, both of Southeast, were shot and killed early Friday morning in the Fort Stanton neighborhood. • David N. Thomas, 40, of Southeast, was fatally stabbed on Sunday near the Capitol Hill area. A police spokeswoman said detectives have identified a possible suspect, but no arrest had been made by early Monday. • Willie Washington, 23, of Southeast, was shot and killed Monday near the Washington Highlands neighborhood. No suspect information is available. • Carol Holloway, 33, has been identified as the victim in a domestic-related fatal shooting Monday night in the Woodridge neighborhood. The shooting involved two men. • A man and a woman were shot in their lower extremities around 9:42 P.M. last Thursday near the Langdon neighborhood. Both victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment and are expected to survive. No suspect information is available. • Aaron Derricott, 18, of Northwest, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with five counts of armed robbery. Derricott robbed five taxicab drivers of money, cell phones and credit cards in Brookland and 16th Street Heights between Nov. 3 and Nov. 13. • A D.C. Superior Court jury found Malik Bilal, 40, guilty of second-degree murder while armed in the July 6, 2014, fatal stabbing of Alonzo G. Beasley, 52, in the in Carver-Langston neighborhood.

DC Crime Summary – November 5th - November 11th, 2016

There was one homicide and several other violent crimes this week in the District. • Antina Cindette Pratt, 40, of Southeast, was found fatally stabbed Tuesday afternoon in the Barry Farm neighborhood. It was not immediately clear how long the victim had been there before being found. No information was available about a suspect or motive. • The October 26 death of Ummi Najma Al-Thaqib, 59, of Southeast is now being investigated as a homicide. The woman was found dead in her car outside an apartment complex in Upper Central NE. The man was shot in the Washington Highlands neighborhood at around noon. • Mathew Taylor Bruce, 23, of Amelia County, Va., was arrested with a gun near the White House on Saturday and was ordered detained on Monday by a D.C. Superior Court judge. • On Saturday evening, a D.C. police officer was hit in the leg and in the head with pellets from a BB gun outside of an apartment complex in the Congress Park neighborhood. No suspect information is available. • A man was shot several times in the back early Thursday outside a restaurant in the Chinatown neighborhood. Police officers near the area reported hearing 10 to 15 gunshots. The victim was taken to the hospital. • After a four-week trial in D.C. Superior Court, a jury found Demetrius Banks, 32, of Riverdale, Md., guilty of 23 felony counts of sexually assaulting and robbing the women as they walked home from the Fort Totten and Brookland Metro stations between July 28 and Aug. 28 in 2015. Banks faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

DC Crime Summary – October 31st - November 4th, 2016

There were two homicides and several other violent crimes this week in the District. • Kevin L. Jenkins, 27, was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting at around 5:10 p.m. Monday in Congress Heights. Police are searching for a small four-door silver car that may have been a Honda Civic or Nissan Sentra. • Joshua Wayne Munson, 22, was found fatally shot Wednesday night in an alley in the Anacostia neighborhood. Police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately made public and no suspect information is available at this time. • A man was found shot in the face Monday night near Grant Park. A police report says that 17 gunshots were reported in the area. The victim was taken to an area hospital. • Two people were shot and wounded early Tuesday near Howard University. Police said the shootings occurred about 2:45 a.m. near the Pleasant Plains neighborhood a block from the university’s Greene Memorial Stadium. Police described the victims as two adult males who suffered what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. No suspect information is available. • Four violent street robberies were reported Monday night in the West End, Georgetown, and the Woodley Park areas. Victims described four separate attacks and robberies involving groups of eight to 12 boys and girls. All the cases may be related, police said.

DC Crime Summary – October 24th - October 28th, 2016

There were two homicides and several other violent crimes this week in the District. • Hamza McCrae, 56, was found fatally shot Sunday morning in a home near Anacostia. No suspect information is available at this time. • James Albert Harling, 49, of Southeast, died Wednesday after he was found with trauma to the head in a church near Dupont Park. Detectives arrested a 37-year-old man on a murder charge in the case. • A 15-year-old pleaded guilty Wednesday in D.C. Superior Court to involuntary manslaughter and a firearms charge for the fatal shooting of Anthony Jackson II, 17, in September. • Master Matthew Thomas, 30, of Southeast, was charged with first-degree murder while armed in the shooting of Chijoke Agbakahi between the neighborhoods of 16th Street Heights and Brightwood Park. Agbakahi died at a hospital on Aug. 10. • Andre Becton, 24, of Suitland, Md., was arrested and charged with fatally shooting Darnell Peoples, 35, of District Heights, Md., in the Congress Heights neighborhood on Sept. 15. • James Rousseau, 22, of Southwest, was charged with assault and intent to kill gun for allegedly shooting and robbing a man in Eckington on Sept. 11. • D.C. police are investigating the shooting of an ice cream truck driver near the Buena Vista neighborhood at around 6:15 p.m. Monday. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. No suspect information is available at this time.

There were three homicides and several other violent crimes this week in the District. • Saul Flores, 36, of Northeast, was shot and killed at about 2 a.m. Saturday near the Brightwood Park neighborhood. Another victim, Ever Cruz, 31, of Northwest, died Sunday at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. No suspect information is available. • Kaelia Minor, 17, was fatally stabbed near Sherman Circle in Petworth late Monday after an argument on a Metrobus. Police identified the suspect as Kyla Jones, 18, of Northwest. Jones was charged in a warrant with second-degree murder while armed and had turned herself in. • Daryl Thompson, 27, of Suitland, Md., was arrested and charged with killing Tyler Jerel McEachern, 23, on Aug. 29 in the Buena Vista neighborhood. • Mark Donte James George, 23, is charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of an unlicensed firearm after he brandished a gun and was shot by an undercover police officer late Friday. • A man and woman were stabbed late Tuesday night by a man near the Capitol View neighborhood. Both victims are expect to recover. No other suspect information is available at this time. • Willie Quinones, 26, of Southeast, was charged with armed robbery for robbing a popular all-night diner near the Tenleytown Metro station early Monday. A second man was being sought.

No suspect information is available at this time. • A 93-year-old woman is recovering after she and two others were shot in a drive-by shooting Sunday evening near the Lamond Riggs and Manor Park neighborhoods. All are expected to survive. Police believe a dark colored vehicle was involved in the shooting. • A man was left with serious injuries after a stabbing Tuesday morning near the Capitol View neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time. • A person was physically and sexually assaulted in the Brightwood neighborhood early Monday morning. Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic man, around the age of 37 and with short hair. • A man was seriously injured after being shot in the back in the Langdon neighborhood Wednesday morning. No suspect information is available at this time. • Deon Calvin Smith, 19, is dead and a woman is in the hospital after both were shot near the Washington Highlands neighborhood on Tuesday night. No suspect information is available at this time.• A man was non-fatally shot at around 7PM Sunday near the Fort Totten neighborhood. Police are on the lookout for two suspects. • A man was non-fatally shot at 7:45PM in the Eckington neighborhood. Police are looking for a black male suspect between 5’ to 5’8 tall. • A man was shot after midnight Monday near the Pleasant Plains neighborhood and Howard University. The victim is hospitalized in critical condition. No suspect information is available at this time. • A 16-year-old D.C. girl was found guilty of second-degree murder for fatally stabbing Amanjanea Whitley, 18, at a Benning Ridge bus stop in March. • Shareem Hall, 22, of District Heights, Md., was arrested Thursday in the July killing of Deeniqua Dodds, 22, in the Capitol View neighborhood. He was charged with first-degree felony murder.

There were four homicides and several other violent crimes this week in the District. • Christopher Redfear, 23, of Capitol Heights, was found fatally shot near the Benning Ridge neighborhood on Friday night. No suspect information is available at this time. • Christian Mendoza, 18, has been arrested in connection with a series of random robberies and assaults in the Mount Pleasant, Columbia Heights, and Adams Morgan neighborhoods earlier this week. Mendoza claims to be a member of the ruthless gang known as MS-13.

There was one homicide and several other violent crimes this week in the District. • Dante Miller, 24, of Northeast, was shot and killed near the Carver/Langston neighborhood early Sunday. No suspect information is available at this time. • An off-duty firefighter who works at the Upper Northwest Fire Station was shot in the Naylor Gardens neighborhood while driving in his personal car. • Michael Wiggins, 27, pleaded guilty Friday to charges stemming from a shooting that injured a 7-year-old girl in April. • A woman was shot and wounded Tuesday afternoon during what appeared to be an attempted robbery south of the Benning Road metro station near the Fort Dupont neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time. • A motorist was carjacked at gunpoint while pumping gas early Sunday morning near Capitol Hill. The three robbers made demands, and then drove off with the motorist’s vehicle. • Kevin Germell, 27, of Southeast, was arrested and charged with first degree sexual assault on Tuesday for forcing a women into the woods and abusing her Monday night. The incident occurred near the Washington Highlands neighborhood. • Dejaun Turner was arrested Wednesday and charged with breaking into a residence in the Edgewood neighborhood, sexually assaulting a woman and then holding her against her will after police arrived.

No suspect information is available at this time. • A 15-year-old in connection with the Friday morning shooting of a man inside a McDonald’s bathroom at the Verizon Center has been arrested and charged with assault with intent to kill. The 25-year-old victim was conscious and breathing and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. • A man was stabbed early Sunday near Congress Heights. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. • A man who was fatally shot on Aug. 5 between 16th Street Heights and Brightwood Park has been identified as Chijioke C. Agbakahi, 59. • Demetri Goldsmith, 18, of DC, pleaded guilty Thursday to the May 29 non-fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl near the Anacostia Metro station. • John F. General, 52, has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for the 1997 murder of Deborah Kinney. • Chelo Gwathmey, 38, of DC, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse while armed with aggravating circumstances and other related offenses that occurred in 2001 and 2002.

No suspect information is available at this time. • Matthew Walker, 26, was fatally shot at about 1:25 a.m. Sunday in the Burrville neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time. • Marcus Martin, 19, of SW, and Marc Butler, 19, of Suitland, were charged with first-degree felony murder for the fatal shooting of Derryk Johnson, 19, in Shaw on Sunday. • Donald Stephen Johnson Jr., 45, was fatally shot on Monday night along the border of 16th Street Heights and Brightwood Park. The suspect has been identified as Herman Lee Cook, Jr., 45. Police consider Cook armed and dangerous. • A man was shot and killed Tuesday evening in the Kenilworth-Parkside neighborhood. Police are looking for a black auto with Virginia tags. • George Joyner, 50, was charged with second-degree murder while armed for stabbing a man Monday night near a homeless shelter several blocks from Judiciary Square. • A man was fatally stabbed near the Children’s National Medical Center in Edgewood on Wednesday afternoon. Police believe his adult son is responsible. • In a separate incident, Peter Spencer, 32, was charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his father, Harrison Spencer, 71, in Georgetown on Wednesday. • A transgender woman was stabbed multiple times near the Ivy City neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon. The woman was conscious and breathing. This is the second violent crime against a transgender person in Northeast, D.C. this past month.

DC Crime Summary – July 30th - August 5th

There were five homicides and several other violent crimes this week in the District. • Seven people were shot, killing three, in six separate locations on Saturday morning, ending 14 days without a reported homicide: Edward Roberts Jr., 29, was killed when he was shot multiple times in Columbia Heights at around 3:30 a.m. • Anaiona Gaston, 19, of Hyattsville, Maryland, died after she was found in an apartment in the Woodland neighborhood in Southeast at around 3:51 a.m. Police later arrested Malik Fields, 21, of Southeast. Fields has been charged with second-degree murder while armed. • Judonne Stephens, 25, of Northeast died at a hospital on Sunday. He was one of two men shot around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 295 in Southeast. • Pedro Sixto Esparragoza, 32, of NW, was fatally stabbed early Tuesday in the Mount Pleasant area of Northwest. Edy Dinora Portillo Martinez, 28, of NW, was arrested and charged with second degree murder. • One man was killed and two others were injured in a pair of shootings that happened on Wednesday night in Mt. Vernon Square and Brightwood Park, respectively. No suspect information is available at this time.

DC CRIME SUMMARY – JULY 23rd - 29th

There were several violent crimes and arrests in connection with homicides in the District this week. • Alphonso Roberts, 32, pleaded guilty last Friday to fatally shooting Maurico Walker, 23, of Northeast outside the Anacostia Library in February. • On Thursday, police arrested Divonta Gatling, 23, of Southeast DC, for the assault and second-degree murder of Desean Chapman, 28, in Forestville, Maryland. • Curtis Fowler, 21, of Southwest, was charged with assault on a police officer while armed. Police say an off-duty officer heard gunshots close to him near 16th Street Heights on Saturday night. • One man is in critical condition and another has been injured after a shooting in the area of Shaw Recreational Center near Logan Circle early Monday morning. • A man was shot and wounded late Monday in the NoMa neighborhood near one of the most violent street corners in the District. • A man was shot in the neck as he was sleeping in a vehicle early Thursday in Lower Central Northeast. He was transported to an area hospital. No suspect information is available at this time.

DC Crime Summary – July 16th - 22nd

There was one homicide and several other violent crimes this week in the District. • Sharod Harris, 20, was fatally shot near the Washington Highlands neighborhood last Friday afternoon. Two other men were injured in the same shooting incident. • Ameesha Gray, 22, of Southeast, was charged with first-degree murder while armed in the 2015 death of Cortez Lamont Clark, who lived in Prince George’s County. • Two women and one man were non-fatally shot in a van while driving in the northbound lanes of Interstate 295 early Sunday morning. An investigation is ongoing. • Two men were shot and wounded early Friday near the Fort Stanton and Congress Heights neighborhoods. The investigations are ongoing. • The driver of a stolen Ford truck collided with a Metropolitan Police cruiser early Thursday morning on I-295. The officer and truck driver were taken to an area hospital to treat their injuries.

DC Crime Summary - July 8th - 15th

There were two homicides and several other violent crimes this week in the District, including two incidents on Tuesday in which suspects fired on DC police officers. • Keyante Edwards, 19, was charged with shooting at DC Police Thursday, as authorities pursued him in a high speed car chase. Alpha Jalloh, 18, and Keith Jones, 20, were also in the vehicle and charged in connection with the incident. • Luvell Alverson, 22, is in custody after taking five people hostage and then opening fire at officers, provoking a gun battle that left bullet holes in the windows of MLK elementary school near 6th Street and Alabama Avenue SE. • DNC staffer Seth Conrad Rich, 27, died early Sunday morning after he was shot multiple times near LeDroit Park. Early reports indicate that there was a struggle before the victim was shot and killed. • After Alan Smith, 50, was stabbed and killed in the Garfield Heights neighborhood, Lakisha Young, 42, was arrested in connection with the homicide. • Transgender woman Deeniqua Dodds, 22, died Wednesday from injuries she sustained in a July 4th shooting in the Capitol View neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident as a homicide.

John Williams III, 35, was also shot that night and died at the scene. Police are continuing to investigate all three homicides cases. • Bryan Rodriguez, 21, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after he allegedly shot a woman Thursday evening in the Petworth neighborhood. • After, Tyrone Lee Lewis, 27, of Southeast D.C. was fatally shot in November 2014, James Edward Ruffin, 26, was charged with Lewis’ first-degree murder.

There were two homicides and several other violent crimes in the District this past week. • Matheno El, 25, was shot and killed Wednesday night in the Carver / Langston neighborhood. • Westley Blackwell, 38, was fatally shot early Sunday morning near the Achievement Prep Wahler Place Middle School, a public charter school in Washington Highlands. No suspect information is available in either homicide case, and authorities are actively investigating the incidents. • A security guard at a Giant grocery store in the Douglass neighborhood was stabbed after he chased down a suspected thief. The law enforcement officer was transported to a hospital.

DC Crime Summary – June 17th – 23rd

There were two homicides and several other violent crimes in the District this past week. • After Stephanie Goodloe, 40, was shot and killed Saturday morning near the Potomac Avenue Metro station, Donald Hairston, 49, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. • Wayne Jerome Dailey, 59, was shot and killed near Gallaudet University early Monday morning. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are actively investigating the incident. • Whittney Mowrer, 27, was arrested and charged with stabbing a man Sunday evening at the Georgia-Avenue Petworth station. The victim was taken to a local hospital, and according to authorities, the incident was domestic in nature. • According to reports, DC Police arrested a 17-year-old boy who threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and her family. An AK-47 and more than 180 rounds of ammunition were found in the juvenile suspect’s home.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union

DC Crime Summary – June 3rd - 9th

There were two fatal shootings and several other violent crimes in the District this past week. • Tyrique White, 18, was shot and killed Sunday evening near CW Harris Elementary School. • A man was fatally shot Thursday night in the Washington Highlands neighborhood. No suspect information is available in either of the homicides, and DC Police are actively investigating both incidents. • Four men were shot outside of the Big Ben liquor store Wednesday afternoon at New York Avenue and North Capitol Street NW. Authorities are searching for a male suspect. • Meguiel Jackson, 36, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after he plead guilty in March to cutting his girlfriend 28 times with a knife. • DC Police arrested 10 suspects and seized over 80 pounds of heroin in a drug bust along the Benning Road corridor. Authorities believe the drugs were shipped from India and Africa.

DC Crime Summary – May 27th – June 2nd

There were several homicides this past week that the police are actively investigating. • Tyrone Bradley, 40, was shot and killed Monday morning in the Carver / Langston neighborhood. DC Police are actively investigating the incident, and no suspect information is available at this time. • Russell Crawford, 32, was fatally shot Sunday evening near Mount Vernon Metro station. • William Arthur Wells Jr., 39, was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in the Grant Park neighborhood. Another man was also injured in the shooting, and he is currently in stable condition at a local hospital. • In addition to the homicides, DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier met with Church leaders yesterday to discuss the rise in violent crime in the District.

CRIME UPDATE FROM THE DC POLICE UNION, CITY WIDE

DC Crime Summary – May 20th – 26th

There were several notable violent crimes and arrests this past week. • Demetrius Stevenson, 29, was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in an apartment complex in Garfield Heights. • A woman was robbed at gunpoint near Truxton Circle. The victim’s toddler was in the backseat of her car when she was approached by the assailant. • Keith Cooper, 23, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession of illegal firearms. The suspect’s mother, 45-year-old Tracey Louise Cooper, was shot and killed earlier this month, but no arrest has been made in connection with the homicide. • John Prentice Hicks, 39, was arrested and is being held without bond. He was charged with assaulting a woman at knifepoint and sexually assaulting her while aboard a Red Line Metro train in April.

Crime Summary – May 13th – 19th

A Candlelight Vigil and the 35th annual National Peace Officer’s Memorial Service took place this past weekend in the District. Thousands of officers from around the nation convened to remember and honor law enforcement officials who died in the active line of duty. • Four people were killed this week in the District, and three of the victims were murdered during daylight hours. • Dana Hamilton, 44, was fatally shot early Thursday morning along Southern Avenue in Southeast. Authorities are searching for a suspect last seen driving in an older gray Toyota 4Runner with heavily tinted windows. • Tayvon Devonte Cummings, 22, and Tracey Louise Cooper, 45, were killed in shootings that were three hours and five blocks apart on Monday afternoon. Authorities believe the homicides are related. • Thomas Meriedy, 24, was shot and killed yesterday afternoon in Anacostia. DC Police are searching for a man last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. • A 7-year-old boy was shot Saturday afternoon in the Congress Heights neighborhood. The victim was not the intended target of the gunshot, and he was immediately taken to a local hospital.

DC Crime Summary – May 6th – 12th

Police Officers from across the nation have convened in Washington, DC this week as they remember law enforcement officials who died in the active line of duty. While National Police Week doesn’t officially start until after May 15th, memorials and conferences were already held to honor fallen officers. • There were three homicides this past week in the District. • A man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon near Sousa Middle School. Authorities are searching for two men traveling in black Nissan Maxima with DC tags. One of the suspects was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. • Don Lavae Williams Jr., 34, was shot and killed early Sunday morning near Anacostia Park. • Jaquan Lamont Haney, 22, was fatally shot late Tuesday night right outside of a DC Public Charter School in Washington Highlands. • Additionally, two men were arrested in connection with homicides that took place in April of this year. • Francisco Daniel Ayala, 23, was arrested yesterday in connection with the fatal stabbing of Dimas Fuentes-Lazo, 23, in the Brightwood Park neighborhood. • Anthony Blackmone, 21, was arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of Nuru Frenche, 23, in the Deanwood neighborhood.

DC Crime Summary – April 30th – May 5th

MPD Sergeant Buddy Smallwood passed away this past weekend. He served as an Officer in MPD for 48 years. The DC Police Union’s thoughts and prayers are with Sergeant Smallwood’s family and friends during this difficult time. • Three men were killed this past week in the District. Leo Hackett, 30, was shot and killed Saturday morning in the Carver/Langston neighborhood, and Wilbert Whitaker, 67, was arrested in connection with the case. • Josiah Jones, 21, was identified as the man who was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in Petworth neighborhood. Anyone who has information related to the case should contact the authorities at 202-727-9099. • Anthony Payne, 40, was identified as the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a hijacked Metrobus. The suspect, 30-year-old Keith James Loving, was allegedly high on synthetic marijuana and PCP at the time of the incident. • DC Police are investigating a report of a man seen taking a photo of kids at a playground near the National Presbyterian School. The male suspect is about 6’0” tall, and he is in his late 20s to early 30s.

DC Crime Summary – April 22nd – April 29th

There were three homicides this past week, bringing the total to 36 which is a 9 percent increase over last year. • During the past week there were several other shootings and stabbings that resulted in serious injuries. • There were several fights at DC high schools that required police response, including one in which a student punched an officer. The student was arrested. • There were two instances in which an individual climbed a fence at the White House complex that resulted in a lockdown of the facility. To prevent future incidents, the Secret Service has unveiled their plan to double the high of the fence surrounding the White House by 2018. • MPD asks that members of the public with any information regarding these cases or others to contact police.

DC Crime Summary – April 16th – April 21st

While off-duty, Officer Sfoglia saw a man collapse inside a convenience store, and he called 911 as well as administered chest compressions until the man regained consciousness. For this heroic act, D. Sfoglia was awarded MPD’s Life Saving Medal on Monday, April 18th. • There were three people killed this past week – 37-year-old Paul Ivey, 34-year-old Matthew E. Smith, and 35-year-old Jayvon Marshma. Authorities have arrested one suspect, 26-year-old Dani Hilliard, in connection with Mr. Ivey’s death, and all three homicides are still under investigation. • Additionally, Kelby Ronald Gordon, 29, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old FBI Janitor, Gabriel Turner, this past March. • And Charles Sims, 29, were and Maurice Bellamy, 17, were arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of a 30-year-old Secret Service officer Arthur Baldwin.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – March 30th – April 4th

There was 1 homicide reported this past week, bringing this year’s total to 27.

There were 17 armed robberies with a gun this past week, and there have been 327 total so far this year in the District. This is a 61% increase compared to this time last year.

There were 7 incidents of sexual assault reported this past week, and incidents of sexual assault have increased by 42% compared to this time last year.

• So far, there have been at least 1197 gunshots reported this year, and that’s 1 report of gunfire every 2 hours.

Even though 2015 saw record violent crime in the District, this year is already on track to set new records. A contributing factor is the MPD manpower crisis that saw more than 867 officers leave the force since January 2014.

A DC Police officer was struck by a car Thursday evening, March 31st, near the Southern Avenue Metro station. The officer was transported to a local hospital, and no information about the case has been released.

After Sheldon Scott Gordy’s body was found in early January in the Brightwood neighborhood, authorities announced Friday, April 1st, that his death was a homicide. He was reportedly killed from blunt force trauma.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with robbing Erin Clowes, 49, along the Metropolitan Branch Trail this past weekend. Over ten other juveniles were involved in the same incident and police are searching for the additional suspects.

Malik Lloyd, 25, pleaded guilty Wednesday to driving under the influence on New Years and injuring thirteen people on a sidewalk. In a separate case, Mr. Lloyd was also charged with intent to distribute cocaine. He will be sentenced May 25th in connection with both cases.

Theodore Snyder, 68, was reported missing nearly six weeks ago, and authorities are continuing to search for him. He was last seen near Lincoln Park and is about 5’9” tall.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – March 16th – 22nd

There were 3 homicides reported this past week, bringing this year’s total to 24.

There were 20 armed robberies with a gun this past week, and there have been 298 total so far this year in the District. This is a 73% increase compared to this time last year.

There were 10 incidents of sexual assault reported this past week, and incidents of sexual assault have increased by 53% compared to this time last year.

So far, there have been 956 gunshots reported this year, which is about 1 shot every two hours.

Even though 2015 saw record violent crime in the District, this year is already on track to set new records. A contributing factor is the MPD manpower crisis that saw more than 817 officers leave the force since January 2014.

Amanjane La-Shell Whitely, 18, died after she was repeatedly stabbed at a bus stop in Benning Terrace on Tuesday morning, March 22nd. A female teenager was arrested in connection with the incident.

A video was released of two persons of interest wanted in connection with fatally shooting Darnell Lee Richardson, 29, near the Benning Road exit ramp along I-295. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the persons of interest.

Aubrey Dansbury, 27, died after he was shot in Washington Highlands on March 9th. Anthony Wade, 29, was previously arrested in connection with the case.

Paul Swann, 24, was arrested Friday, March 18th, in connection with the fatal shooting of Adam Barker, 21, in the Skyland neighborhood.

Authorities are investigating a report that a female student was raped on the campus of Sidwell Friends School in McLean Gardens. According to reports, the student is a teenager, and the alleged perpetrator was a male student.

Lynwood Anthony McClure, 35, was arrested after he allegedly pushed a woman to the ground and attempted to sexually assault her in a park that is a couple blocks away from Georgetown Law School.

Authorities are searching for two men wanted for robbing and sexually assaulting a woman in the basement of a Barry Farm neighborhood building. According to reports, one of the suspects, armed with a gun, approached the victim as she was leaving the building and forced her into the basement.

Two women were injured after they were stabbed by a man inside of a club in downtown DC early Monday morning. The victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

DC Crime Summary – March 9th – 15th

There was 1 homicide this past week, bringing this year’s total number of homicides to 21.

There were 13 armed robberies with a gun this past week, and there have been 278 total so far this year in the District. This is a 75% increase compared to this time last year.

The DC Police Union and its members would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Prince George County Police Officer Jacai Colson.

James Stewart, 22, was identified as the man who was fatally shot Friday morning, March 11th, in the Deanwood neighborhood. His death is the 22nd homicide so far this year in the District.

A man was critically wounded Wednesday afternoon, March 9th, in the Washington Highlands neighborhood. Homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate, and authorities are searching for a man last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

Tavon Stewart, 23, is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Rudolph Garris, 25, near the Hendley Elementary School. A warrant has been issued for the suspect’s arrest, and he was formally charged second-degree murder while armed.

A video was released of a person wanted in connection with a homicide that took place in the Woodland neighborhood last week. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person of interest and a vehicle.

Terrell Strickland, 23, was arrested in connection with at least 14 robberies in the District. The suspect’s criminal behavior reflects an ongoing trend in DC - robberies have increased by 38% compared to the same time last year.

A trespasser followed a woman into her apartment building in Mount Pleasant Wednesday night, March 9th. The suspect beat the victim and tried to rape her before running away.

DC Crime Summary – March 2nd – 8th

There were 3 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total number of homicides to 20.

There were 18 armed robberies with a gun this past week, and there have been 265 total so far this year in the District. This is an 87% increase compared to this time last year.

Rudolph Garris, 25, died Wednesday morning, March 2nd, after he was shot near the Hendley Elementary School Tuesday afternoon.

Ivy Tonett Smith, 39, was killed and a man was injured in a drive-by shooting Sunday afternoon, March 6th, in the Woodland neighborhood. Authorities have described a man and a woman as suspects, and they were last seen inside of a green Honda Odyssey.

Noel Rezene, 26, was identified as the man who was fatally shot Friday afternoon in the Shipley neighborhood. A woman was also injured in the shooting, and Tavon Moore, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder while armed.

A woman was robbed and sexually assaulted at gunpoint early Friday morning near Eastland Gardens. As she was getting out of her car, the victim was approached by two men and was immediately assaulted.

Devonta Johnson, 27, was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of Robinson Pal, 29, at a bar located in downtown DC. The suspect was the second person arrested in this case, and he was formally charged with second-degree murder while armed.

Authorities are investigating an attempted abduction outside of the Air and Space Museum. According to reports, a stranger grabbed the hand of a young child, who was waiting for chaperone, and started to walk away with the child. After the suspect was stopped by the chaperone, the suspect said, “Sorry, I like kids” and then ran away.

DC Crime Summary – February 24th – March 1st

The DC Police Union offers its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Prince William County Police Officer Ashley Guindon. Officer Guindon was fatally shot Saturday evening, when she responded to a call about a domestic matter. It was Officer Guindon’s first day patrolling on the street.

There were 2 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total number of homicides to 17.

There were 19 armed robberies with a gun this past week, and there have been 247 total so far this year in the District. This is an 87% increase compared to this time last year.

Adam Edwin Barker, 21, died after he was injured in a shooting Monday afternoon in the Garfield Heights neighborhood.

Demetrius Christopher Medlay, 22, was identified as the man who was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon, February 24th, in the Congress Heights neighborhood. A man wearing a white t-shirt was described as a suspect. He was last seen fleeing in a green vehicle with VA tags.

A person died in a house fire that broke out near Fort Davis park yesterday evening. An investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the fire and the victim’s death.

After a 17-year-old girl was attacked with a stun gun this past week, authorities are searching for a group of five juveniles. The assailants stole the victim’s shoes and money in the middle of a storm.

Christopher Proctor, 26, was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Matthew Shlonsky, 24, near the Shaw Metro station this past summer.

Anthony Chambers, 25, was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting at a barbershop in the Barracks Row neighborhood earlier this month. A man and his almost two-year-old son were injured in the shooting.

A man was stabbed Thursday morning, February 25th, at the McDonald’s near the Verizon Center. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – February 17th – 23rd

There were 5 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total number of homicides to 15.

There were 23 armed robberies with a gun this past week, and there have been 228 total so far this year in the District. This is an 85% increase compared to this time last year.

Deandre A. Sibblies, 21, was shot and killed in the Kenilworth neighborhood Monday evening. According to sources, the shooting incident followed a “craps game gone sideways,” and authorities are investigating the matter further.

Michael Donell Adams, 23, was shot and killed Friday night in the Burrville neighborhood. No suspect information is available, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Dante Kinard, 21, was also fatally shot Friday in the Carver / Langston neighborhood. No suspect information is available, and authorities are investigating the incident.

After Clifton David Francis, 51, and David Aumon Watkins Jr., 45, were shot and killed Thursday afternoon, February 18th, in a Northeast home, David Joshua Bright, 29, was arrested in connection with the murders.

Antoine Byrd, 35, was arrested in connection with the stabbing death of Robinson Pal, 29, in a club in downtown DC last month. The suspect was formally charged with first-degree murder while armed.

Daron Wint, 35, was indicted in connection with killing the Savopoulos family and their housekeeper in May 2015. The suspect was formally charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder.

Michael Green, 44, and Benito Valdez, 45, were arrested Wednesday, February 17th, in connection with a triple murder that took place 15 years ago. While the suspects were questioned by DC Police years ago, a break in the case took place when a witness came forward with new information.

A Metrobus driver noticed a group of teenage girls surrounding a 61-year-old woman, stealing the woman’s purse, and fleeing on Monday afternoon. The driver chased the girls and ultimately retrieved the woman’s purse. Three girls were arrested in connection with the case.

DC Crime Summary – February 3rd – 9th

While there was no homicide this past week, there have been 8 so far this year in the District.

After Robert Leroi Wiggins died in a stabbing, his girlfriend, 36-year-old Sean Maichael Baker, was charged with second-degree murder while armed. The suspect was previously charged with assault with the intent to kill.

Justin Headspeth, 23, was arrested in connection with shooting two school administrators sitting in a parked vehicle in the Barry Farm neighborhood a few weeks ago. The suspect was formally charged with two counts of assault with the intent to kill.

Sean Duelle Foster, 47, was arrested and charged with the first-degree sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl in the Brentwood neighborhood.

A toddler and a man were injured in a shooting on Georgia Avenue in upper Northwest Saturday night. The victims were taken to a local hospital, and no suspect information is available at this time.

Two adults and two juveniles were injured in a shooting Wednesday, February 3rd, in Anacostia. The victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and no suspect information is available at this time.

Thomas Matthew Collodel, 33, was arrested and arrested in connection with breaking into a hotel, businesses, a restaurant, and an apartment building. The suspect was originally identified after he logged into his Twitter account at a hotel he burglarized.

Over the past week, DC Police have arrested 13 different suspects in connection with 19 robberies in the District.

DC Crime Summary – January 6th – January 12th

The first three homicides of the year took place this past week, and compared to the same time last year, there have been the same number of homicides.

There have been 14 instances of sexual abuse so far this year, which is a 367% increase compared to this time last year.

Roger Lewis Haggins, 30, died after he succumbed to injuries he sustained in a Wellington Park shooting on Friday, January 8th. No suspect information is available at this time, and police are investigating the incident.

Joseph Andre Robinson, 31, was killed near the Minnesota Avenue Metro station in a shooting on Friday, January 8th. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

An unidentified man was killed in a Hillcrest shooting on Sunday, January 10th. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Tavon Barber, 20, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after he was found guilty of breaking into two homes and sexually assaulting a woman in one of the burglaries in 2013.

Three juveniles and an adult were injured in a shooting Friday night, January 8th, near Eastern Senior High School. Authorities are investigating the incident, and no suspect information is available at this time.

A female pedestrian was injured in a hit and run incident in downtown DC on Monday afternoon. The victim was trapped under another car when authorities arrived, and she was taken to a local hospital.

DC Crime Summary – December 30th – January 5th

DC Crime Summary – December 30th – January 5th

Unfortunately, 2015 was a violent year in the District. There were 162 homicides, which was a 54% increase compared to the previous year.

While there have been no homicides this year, there have already been 10 assaults with a gun. This is a 20% increase compared to the same time last year.

Ian Jerome Butts, 36 was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on the morning of Friday, January 1st, in between Fort Dupont and Greenway. Authorities recovered the vehicle used in the incident; however, no suspect information is available at this time.

Nathaniel Beasley, 24, was arrested and charged Friday, January 1st, with the fatal shooting of Deontray Ingram in September.

A man was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Mohammed Mukta Abduselam, 37, in Congress Heights in 2011. Because the suspect was a juvenile at the time of the homicide, his name has not been released.

Malik Marvin Lloyd, 25, was charged with driving under the influence Friday, January 1st, after he allegedly struck several people outside of a nightclub and left the scene of the incident.

Photos were released of six persons of interest wanted in connection with a December attack on the Red Line of the Metro. According to reports, the victim was concussed and suffered a broken jaw at the time of the incident. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspects.

A man riding on a Yellow Line train was stabbed in a robbery attempt near the U Street station on Tuesday. The assailant allegedly attacked the victim after he refused to give the suspect his property.

A video was released of a man wanted for stealing a credit card from a DC firefighter and using the card at a restaurant. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect.

DC Crime Summary – November 11th – 17th

There were 5 homicides reported this past week, and there have been 145 homicides in the District this year. Homicides have increased by 58% compared to this time last year.

A man died after he was shot Tuesday morning, November 17th, near a motel near the Ivy City neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time.

Onyekachi Emmanuel, 24, was shot and killed Sunday in Congress Heights. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Diante McLeod, 28, was fatally stabbed Wednesday morning, November 11th, near a homeless shelter in the Ivy City neighborhood.

Ray Andre, 21, was fatally shot early Friday morning in Brentwood. No suspect information is available at this time, and DC Police are investigating the incident.

Antwan Baker, 29, was fatally shot Thursday evening, November 12th, in Grant Park. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

A man was critically injured in a shooting near H.D. Woodson Senior High School. Another male victim was injured in the incident, and he was transported to a local hospital.

DC Police arrested a man for driving under the influence Wednesday night in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. A sword, two knives, a lighter were found in the suspect’s vehicle, and according to reports, he smelled of PCP.

A man was stabbed outside the Tenleytown Metro Station Friday afternoon. No suspect information is available at this time.

Jordan Matthews, 67, was arrested in connection with a bank robbery at a PNC Bank in Adams Morgan on Thursday. DC Police are also looking for a second man in connection with the case.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – September 30th – October 6th

• There were 2 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 122. Homicides have increased by 49% compared to this time last year.

• There was a triple shooting that left Jerome Leroy Wright, 32, fatally wounded Saturday morning, and the two other victims were taken to a local hospital. Witnesses said the suspect had long hair and was wearing all black clothing.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – September 23rd – 29th

There were 4 homicides reported this past week, bringing this year’s total to 120. Homicides have increased by 50% compared to this time last year, while violent crime has increased in DC compared to the same time last year.

Thomas Stalling, 50, was killed in a triple shooting Saturday night in Barry Farm. Two other victims were taken to a local hospital and are reportedly in critical condition.

Malik Mason Thomas, 21, was identified as the man who was found in a burning car, after he was shot and killed in Washington Highlands. Police released a video of a van that is wanted in connection with the case.

Rodney Baggott, 47, was arrested and charged with the second-degree murder in the shooting death of Donald Franklin Bush, 44. The incident took place June 13th in Brentwood.

Ernest Massenberg-Bey, Jr., 21, was killed Monday night in a double shooting near the Anacostia Metro station. No suspect is available at this time, and authorities are actively investigating the incident.

Darren N. McManus, 54, died from injuries he sustained in a 2004 stabbing in the Deanwood neighborhood. Authorities determined on Monday that his death was a homicide.

Jose Lopez, 39, succumbed to injuries he sustained in a stabbing in Shaw six years ago. On Tuesday, authorities ruled his death was a homicide.

Stanley Isaac Moghalu, 28, was arrested and charged in the 2011 fatal shooting of Ronald Deacon Smith, 27. He was the third suspect arrested in connection with the incident.

A 14-year-old was stabbed multiple times Friday afternoon in Fort Dupont. The victim was walking home from basketball practice when was reportedly attacked.

After an MPD Officer witnessed a stabbing near the Gallery Place Metro station, he saw the suspect, Larry Jeffers, 18, fleeing. The officer caught the suspect and arrested him, while the victim was taken to a hospital.

DC Crime Summary – September 16th – 22nd

There were 5 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 115. Homicides have increased by 45% compared to this time last year, while violent crime has increased in DC compared to the same time last year.

Levi Kinte Davis, 38, was shot to death Wednesday night near the Benning Road Metro station. No suspect information is available at this time and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Charles Antonio Welch, 25, was shot and killed in the Columbia Heights neighborhood Friday night. Authorities are searching for a man, about 30-40 years old, who was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue shorts.

Kuron Calleo, 28, was shot to death Sunday night in Sursum Corda. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Marcellus Green, 29, was shot to death Saturday morning in Buena Vista. Maricco Knight, 22, and Steven Pugh, 22, were arrested in connection with the homicide.

Deontray Ingram, 22, was also fatally shot Saturday morning in Barry Farm. No suspect information is available at this time.

Javonte Odom, 20, was arrested in connection with the homicide of Antonio Ayala, 35, in the Brightwood neighborhood. The suspect is one of three people who have been arrested in the case.

After Emebet Kebede, a 56-year-old Physician Assistant, died in a hit-and-run outside of the United Medical Center, authorities arrested Rahveed Shamaah Comford, 32. DC Police believe the suspect was driving at least 15 mph over the speed limit when his vehicle the victim.

Bijon L. Brown, 20, was arrested and charged with shooting a passenger aboard a Metrobus on August 21st in the Fort Stanton neighborhood.

A 19-year-old pleaded guilty to punching Elijah Smith, 69, at the Eastern Market Metro station in April.

Washington Post: Federal charges filed in alleged sex trafficking of young girls in District “Daraya Marshall, 35, and Jarnese Harris, 29, appeared Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Harvey under a 10-count indictment filed Friday that included five counts against each of child sex trafficking and coercion of minor females. Police arrested Javonte Odom of Decatur, Ga., on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant that charges him with the slaying of Antonio Ayala March 30 in the Brightwood area of the city. School is back in session, and children are walking, biking, and running through city streets. As a driver, please be extra cautious while moving through a school zone and keep in mind the following road safety tips.

Automobile drivers must come to complete stops at stop signs and crosswalks. The pedestrian always has the right of way, and drivers should be patient, while people are moving through the crosswalk.

The speed limit in a school zone is 15 mph. Keep this in mind as you are driving.

If you come across a school bus stopped on the side of the ride, please be careful. Students may be getting out of the school bus and walking across the street.

DC Crime Summary – September 9th – 15th

This past week marked the 14th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. As Police Officers, who responded to the attacks at the Pentagon, we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our citizens.

Homicides have increased by 45% compared to the same time last year, and there have been more homicides this year than all of last year.

Santos Garcia, 65, died Wednesday, September 9th, from injuries he sustained in an armed robbery in Edgewood four months ago. His death marks 110th homicide of the year, which is five more than the total number of homicides for all of last year.

Bijon Lamont Brown, who is wanted for allegedly shooting and wounding a passenger aboard the Metrobus, is a previously convicted gun offender. If anyone has information regarding his whereabouts, he or she should call the authorities immediately. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.

A 17-year-old admitted in court that he brought a firearm into a home that was accidentally used by a 7-year-old to kill Dalis Cox, 3. The teenage suspect pleaded guilty to possession of an unregistered firearm and second-degree child cruelty.

A video was released of a person of interest wanted in connection with an armed robbery in the Penn Branch neighborhood. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect.

A video was released in connection with an armed robbery on August 29th near the Catholic University football field. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect.

Georgetown Rabbi Barry Freundel, convicted of secretly videotaping naked women in a ritual bath, issued a public apology on Tuesday.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – September 2nd – 8th

There were 3 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 108, which is a 47% increase and greater than the total number of homicides for all of last year.

Jarrell Hall, 28, was killed in a double shooting Monday night near Shepherd Parkway. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Davon Wade, 22, was shot and killed near Langdon Park Friday night. Two other victims were also injured in the incident.

An unidentified man’s body was found inside of a burning car in Congress Heights. DC Police believe the victim was shot before the body was found inside of the vehicle.

Uyer Hooper, 55, was shot to death in the Takoma neighborhood Sunday morning. Dejuan Ethridge, 27, was arrested and charged in connection with the homicide.

A man from DC pled guilty to sexually abusing a juvenile girl who is his relative. The victim was diagnosed with Trichomonas, an STD, and prosecutors did not release the name of the 31-year-old suspect in order to protect the identity of the victim.

DC Police seized 265 lbs. of synthetic marijuana at a warehouse in Northwest. Siraj Issa, 33, and Yenework Abera, 41, were arrested in the case, and they were charged with possession with intent to distribute $2.3 million worth of synthetic cannabinoids.

A photo was released of Bijon Lamont Brown, who is wanted in connection with a shooting on a Metrobus on August 21st. Police believe the suspect is armed and dangerous.

DC Crime Summary – August 26th – September 1st

There were 2 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 105, which is a 44% increase and equal to the number of homicides for all of last year.

Omoni Johnson, 26, and Shaheed James, 21, were killed in a shooting near the Benning Road Metro station Friday night. Another unidentified male was injured in the incident.

Taije Chambliss, 13, was walking home from a library when she was injured in a drive-by shooting in the Eastern Market neighborhood. The victim was walking to a neighbor’s home to do homework when she was hit by a bullet that was not intended for her.

After Eric Jackson, 35, was fatally shot this past Saturday, Kenneth Stewart, 27, was arrested Wednesday, August 26th, in connection with the homicide. He was formally charged with second-degree murder while armed.

Milkiyas Baysia, 24, was arrested Thursday, August 27th, in connection with Kassahun Adebe Edo’s, 35, death this past Sunday. The victim died from injuries he sustained in an assault, and the suspect was formally charged with second-degree murder.

Maureko Hill, 22, was arrested Wednesday, August 26th, and charged with the November 2014 fatal shooting of Latroia Renee Smith.

Johsua Mebane, 19, was found guilty of the first-degree murder of a taxi driver back in 2012. According to prosecutors, the suspect fatally shot the driver in the back of the head after he was dropped off at his requested location.

A video was released of a man wanted for two incidents of sexual assault. In both cases, the suspect assaulted a woman as she was leaving a Metro station in Northeast (Brookland / CUA and Fort Totten).

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – August 12th – August 18th

There were 5 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 97. Homicides have increased by 35% compared to this time last year, while violent crime and total crime have increased in DC compared to the same time last year.

Matthew Shlonsky, 23, was shot and killed in Shaw Saturday afternoon. The incident took place only blocks away from where several people were shot earlier in the week, and there is no indication that the victim was the intended target. Authorities have released a video of six persons of interest wanted in connection with the incident.

Lawrence Alonzo Carter, 27, was shot and killed Saturday morning near the Kipp DC: Will Academy.

The death of five-week-old Robert Smith, Jr. was determined to be a homicide. He was killed on August 4th as a result of blunt force trauma, and Robert Smith, Sr., 28, was arrested Monday, August 17th, and he was formally charged with first-degree murder.

Tenika Fontanelle, a 31-year-old mother, was fatally shot and her 12-year-old son was also shot Tuesday, August 18th, after a 17-year-old entered their home with an illegal firearm. Police believe that the two juveniles may have had an argument on Monday, August 17th, that led to the shooting. The 17-year-old suspect was also shot in the incident.

Amari Jenkins, 21, was shot and killed outside of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Benning Ridge on Tuesday, August 18th. The suspect was last seen in a minivan, and police are investigating the incident.

The body of William Conley, 24, was found inside of a Brentwood neighborhood home near Langdon Park on Tuesday, August 18th. The victim died from fatal gunshot wounds, and authorities are investigating the homicide.

A 17-year-old male was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Dalis Cox, 3. The victim was accidentally shot by her 7-year-old brother who was playing with a handgun, and it is believed that the teenage suspect brought the firearm into the apartment.

Photos were released of three persons of interest wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of Antonio Austin, 31, near police headquarters. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

A woman was sexually assaulted at gunpoint in Park View early Sunday morning. A male, about 5’5”-5’6” tall, was described as a suspect. He has a muscular build and was last seen wearing a blue and white plaid shirt, blue jeans, a hat, and sunglasses.

There have been several shootings and killings in the Shaw neighborhood over the past several weeks. And Fox5DC reported that residents in Shaw are now increasingly concerned about their own safety.

D’Andre Britton was arrested by authorities for allegedly shoplifting and stabbing a security guard at Macy’s.

DC Crime Summary – August 5th – August 11th

There were 4 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 91. Homicides have increased by 28% compared to this time last year, while violent crime has increased in DC compared to the same time last year.

Charles Burton, 38, was shot to death early Friday morning in Douglass. Three males wearing white shirts and dark colored jeans were described as suspects.

Eric Anthony Jackson, 32, was shot and killed near the Anacostia Metro station Saturday night. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Ryan Matthew Addison, 28, was shot and killed earlier Tuesday morning in Bellevue. No suspect information is available at this time and authorities are investigating the incident.

Eric Lee Smith, 44, was stabbed and killed along the H Street NE corridor Monday afternoon. A short man with a goatee was described as a suspect. He was last seen wearing a tan hat, a pink or red shirt, and black shorts.

Eric McDuffie, 23, turned himself into DC Police on Monday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with the first-degree murder of Antonio McCallister, 23.

According to the District’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer, gun crimes have increased this summer by 28% compared to the same time last year. While there were 428 gun crimes in June and July of this year, there were only 333 crimes involving gun during the same months last year.

A man was arrested Thursday afternoon, August 26th, after bringing a gun into the Potomac Avenue Metro station. The suspect was formally charged with carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of unregistered ammunition.

Jasmin Lynn, 28, was charged Thursday, August 26th, with throwing her 2-month-old son and fracturing his skull. The child’s grandmother told police that the suspect was drunk at the time of the incident.

Antonio McCallister, 23, was shot and killed Friday night in Garfield Heights. No suspect information is available at this time, and police are investigating the incident.

Melvin Williams was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in Woodland Terrace. No suspect information is available at this time, and police are investigating the incident.

Isiah Ageyekum, 25, was shot and killed Thursday afternoon, July 23rd, in Bellevue. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Antwon Deangelo Green, 27, was arrested Thursday, July 23rd, and charged with fatally shooting Breond Keys, 38, at an Anacostia barbershop in October 2014.

Jarod Yorkshire was sentenced to 37 years in prison after he was found guilty of shooting and killing Derrick Ragland, 19, in 2011.

A 33-year-old pregnant woman was stabbed while riding her bike along the John Philip Sousa Bridge. The suspect was described as a man who is about 30-40 years old and 5’11” tall.

An off-duty DC Police Officer exchanged gunfire with two robbery suspects Tuesday night near Langdon Park. The off-duty officer witnessed the two suspects committing a robbery and shooting the victim. After the officer confronted the suspects, the suspects shot at the off-duty officer and fled the scene.

Claudia Roldan, a 35-year-old employee at a Foggy Bottom daycare center, was charged with physically abusing a 3-month-old and 7-month-old at the center.

DC Crime Summary – July 15th – 21st

Violent crime, especially homicides and assault with a deadly weapon, are up compared to this time last year.

There were 3 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 77. Homicides have increased by 18% compared to this time last year, while total crime, property crime, and violent crime have all increased in DC compared to the same time last year.

Charles Douglas, 33, was shot and killed a few blocks north of Logan Circle Saturday morning. A suspect was last seen traveling inside of a dark colored vehicle.

Wesley West, 25, was fatally shot in Congress Heights early Saturday morning. No suspect information is available at this time and authorities are investigating the incident.

Bryan Perkins, 18, was killed in a triple shooting in Edgewood Friday night. There is no suspect information available, and DC Police are investigating the incident.

Kenneth Garner, 24, was arrested Wednesday, July 15th, in connection with the fatal assault of Thomas Harris, 52, on July 5th. The suspect was charged with first-degree murder.

An 11-13 year old boy is suspected of stabbing another juvenile near Petworth Metro station. Authorities believe the suspect was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

A woman walking near Friendship Blow Pierce Junior Academy Monday morning was attacked and sexually assaulted by a man who was armed. DC Police released a video of a person of interest and are asking for the public’s help in locating him.

Laqueda Ransome, 34, was arrested and charged with stabbing three women and a young girl Monday night near HD Woodson Senior High School.

A community meeting was held in the NoMa neighborhood to address the recent increase in crime in the area.

DC Crime Summary – July 8th – 14th

There were 2 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 74. Homicides have increased by 19% compared to this time last year, while total crime, property crime, and violent crime have all increased in DC compared to the same time last year.

Timothy Bing, 36, was fatally shot Sunday night near Union Station. The suspect was last seen wearing a black and white shirt and blue jeans he was described as having a slim build and is armed with a gun.

William Clemments Herndon, 24, was identified as the man who was shot and killed in Kenilworth the morning of Wednesday July 8th.

Zakias Blanding, 19, was arrested in connection with homicide of Heineken McNeil, 19. The victim was found burning in a trash bin last week, and authorities believe that he was fatally shot before he was found in the trash bin.

A video was released of a June drive-by homicide that took place near the Hechinger Mall. Authorities are searching for two persons of interest, and police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the persons of interest.

Santos Ventura, 64, was identified as the woman who was killed in a quadruple stabbing Sunday night in a Northwest home near the U Street corridor. Manuel Antonio Ramos, 70, was arrested in connection with the incident, and he was charged with first-degree murder while armed.

Jamil Betts, 24, was arrested and charged with fatally shooting Andre McConnell, 26, in Buena Vista in April. Another victim sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incident.

Jarnese Harris, 28, and an unidentified male were arrested in connection with child sex trafficking charges. According to DC Police, the suspects were involved in trafficking juvenile sex workers, physical sexual abuse of the juvenile victims, and the distribution of marijuana.

DC Police have confirmed that two men shot at each other Tuesday morning at a playground in Columbia Heights. The incident has raised concerns among neighborhood residents, as the incident endangered children playing at the park.

After a woman riding a bike along the Metropolitan Branch Trail was robbed Monday, two juvenile males were arrested Tuesday and charged in the case.

Kevin Burno, 26, was convicted of crashing a car into a District Police Officer and injuring him in March 2013. The incident left the officer seriously injured, he no longer has use of his lower left leg. Mr. Burno faces a sentence of up to 30 years in prison.

DC Crime Summary – July 1st – 7th

There were 3 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 71. While homicides have increased by 22% compared to this time last year, total crime, property crime, and violent crime have all increased in DC compared to the same time last year.

Kevin Joseph Sutherland was stabbed to death Saturday afternoon at the NoMa-Gallaudet station. Authorities believe that the stabbing occurred as a result of a robbery gone awry. Jasper Spires, 18, was arrested Monday morning.

Dwayne Gene Dillard, 23, was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Barry Farm. Three other people were injured in the shooting and no suspect information is available at this time.

John Jones, 24, was fatally shot Sunday morning near Fort Stanton Park. No suspect information is available at this time, and police are investigating the incident.

Heineken McNeil, 19, was identified as the man who was found burning inside of a trash bin last week. Authorities have ruled his death a homicide and believe he was fatally shot before placed in the trash bin.

An unidentified male’s body was found in the Anacostia River Friday morning. Authorities believe the male is about 20-30 years old, and homicide detectives are investigating the incident.

Bijan Gray, 23, was arrested for displaying a gun on Sunday. He was also charged in connection with shooting a man in Carver / Langston in May.

A 14-year-old male was arrested Wednesday and charged with stealing 6 iPhone 6’s between May 27th and June 15th. He stole all of the iPhones on Metro trains and at stations.

DC Crime Summary – June 24th – 30th

There were 5 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 68. While homicides have increased by 24% compared to this time last year, total crime, property crime, and violent crime have all increased in DC compared to the same time last year.

Darrell Michael Grays, 33, was identified as the man who was fatally shot Sunday in Hill East. No suspect information is available and police are investigating the homicide.

Rodney Delonte Davis, 25, was shot and killed Sunday morning near Shepherd Parkway. After he was found by responders, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital and authorities and investigating the case.

Kevin Cortez, 23, was shot and killed late Friday night in the Trinidad neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time and authorities are investigating the incident.

A man, who was found dead inside of a burning trashcan near Gallaudet University, was fatally shot before he was relocated to a trash bin according to investigators. The victim has not yet been identified.

Stephon Marquis Perkins, 21, was shot and killed Thursday morning, June 25th, in Anacostia. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

William Smallwood, 23, was sentenced to 22 years in prison and Demitrich Jones, 17, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after they were found guilty in connection with the murder of Rashard Raigns, 33, last year.

Mark Chuvala, a 38-year-old music teacher, was arrested and charged with sexually abusing a minor he met in one of his classes in DC.

Derryck Anjuan Decuir, 22, was formally charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Malek Mercer, 15.

DC Crime Summary – June 17th – 23rd

There were 6 homicides this past week and 132 violent crimes. Compared to this time last year homicides increased by 19% and violent crime has also increased.

Three more people overdosed from a synthetic drug outside of Minnesota Market in Northeast. The market was previously victim to an armed robbery with a gun, and the robber demanded synthetic marijuana.

A dead body was found burning inside of a garbage bin near Gallaudet University Tuesday morning. Authorities are investigating the incident.

Malek Mercer, 15, died Saturday from injuries sustained after he was shot Tuesday at a bus stop near Fort Stanton Park. He was previously being held on life support and he was not expected to survive. Derryck Anjuan Decuir, 22, was arrested Friday in connection with the incident.

Joel Johnson, 53, was stabbed and killed in Glover Park Friday night. No suspect information is available at this time and police are investigating the incident.

Larry Michael Lockhart, 25, was found shot and killed near Gallaudet University Wednesday morning, June 17th. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Antonio Lee Bryant, 28, was identified as the man who was shot and killed Wednesday night, June 17th, near Anacostia Park. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Patrick Shaw, 26, man was fatally shot late Thursday, June 18th, in the Shaw neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time.

Loretta Hall, 48, was arrested in connection in the stabbing and killing of Kenneth Fogle, 54 in the Douglass neighborhood on June 13th.

Brian Sickles, 42, was shot and killed Thursday morning in the Benning Ridge neighborhood. DC Police found 22 shell cases at the scene of the crime.

DC Crime Summary – June 10th – 16th

James Brown, 26, was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in between the Benning Road and Capitol Heights Metro stations. No suspect information is available at this time, and police are investigating the incident.

Kenneth Fogle, 54, was stabbed and killed Saturday afternoon in the Douglass neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time.

Donald Franklin Bush, 44, was shot and killed Saturday evening in the Brentwood neighborhood. Authorities are investigating the incident, and no suspect information is available at this time.

Anthony Ray Melvin, 57, died Wednesday, June 10th, due to injuries he sustained a week earlier in an argument.

According to an unsealed search warrant that was released Wednesday, June 10th, a bloody baseball bat was found in the same room as the bodies of three people killed in the Savopoulos home last month.

Octavia Tillman, 31, was killed Friday morning after a car crash on Suitland Parkway. Authorities are searching for a person driving a Volvo who fled the scene of the incident. A handgun and ammunition were found in the Volvo.

Victoria Callahan, 19, died Thursday afternoon after taking the drug “Molly” at concert at Echostage. She was celebrating her 19th birthday at the time of the incident.

While synthetic marijuana has been illegal in DC since 2012, some businesses have continued to sell it, and at least eleven people overdosed on the synthetic drug this past weekend. As a result, a proposal is being considered to shut down any business for 96 hours that sells the drug.

William Nelson, 52, was arrested after he allegedly beat up Anthony Towns, 46, on the Green Line of the Metro this past week. A cellphone video was taken of the incident, while the passengers were in between the Anacostia and Congress Heights stops. Mr. Nelson was formally charged with felony assault.

DC Crime Summary – June 3rd – 9th

Qur’an R. Vines, 21, was fatally shot Monday afternoon in the Benning Ridge neighborhood. A juvenile was also shot in the incident, and authorities are investigating the shooting.

Santos Ventura, 64, was killed in a quadruple stabbing Sunday night in a Northwest home near the U Street corridor. Manuel Antonio Ramos, 70, was arrested in connection with the incident, and he was charged with first-degree murder while armed.

A DC judge granted a new trial to Ingmar Guandique. He was previously convicted in connection with the killing of federal intern Chandra Levy in 2001, and he was sentenced to 60 years in prison.

Ten different people were wounded in eight different shootings this past weekend in the District. Authorities are actively investigating the shootings and none appear to be fatal.

A woman was sexually assaulted and beaten in the Congress Heights neighborhood Friday night. The suspect is male, about 5’9” tall, and about 25 years old.

Robert “Leo” Dwyer, a former ANC, was found guilty of assaulting a homeless man in Dupont Circle earlier this year. Mr. Dwyer faces up to 270 days in jail.

A video was released of fourteen persons of interest wanted in connection with the homicide of Charnice Milton, a 27-year-old journalist. The shooter was last seen riding a dirt bike.

DC Police believe that signs of forced entry at the Savopolous household indicate that more than one suspect was involved in the killings. Authorities have arrested one suspect, Daron Wint, and they are searching through cellphones stolen from the Savopolous home to find clues in identifying other suspects.

DC Crime Summary – May 20th – 26th

There were 4 homicides this past week, bringing this year’s total to 48.

Tamara Gliss, 31, was killed Monday night in Shaw in a drive-by shooting. Authorities believe the suspect drove away from the incident on a dirt bike.

Anthony Andre Osgood, 29, was killed in a shooting in Garfield Heights early Saturday morning. A woman was also injured in the incident, and she was taken to a local hospital.

Devonte Reed, 20, was fatally shot Sunday night near the Marvin Gaye Park. Jamie Patterson was arrested in connection with the shooting, and he was charged with second-degree murder.

Stephon Demarrio Clark, 24, was stabbed and killed Friday afternoon in Carver / Langston. Herbert Hines, 47, was arrested in connection with the incident, and he was charged with second-degree murder.

A pressure cooker was destroyed in a controlled detonation by police Sunday night near the National Mall, while authorities were investigating a parked vehicle. No hazardous materials were discovered.

Police have arrested a 34-year-old suspect, Daron Wint, in connection with the killing of the Savopoulos family and their housekeeper in a quadruple homicide this past week, Authorities believe that Daron Wint was not the only person involved.

DC Crime Summary – May 13th – 19th

Savvas and Amy Savopoulos as well as their son, Philip, and housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa, 57, were killed in a Woodley Park neighborhood house fire. Authorities have ruled this incident and quadruple homicide, and a video was released Saturday of a person of interest wanted in connection with the incident.

Darlene Marie Bryant, 46, was stabbed to death Thursday, May 14th, evening near Oxon Run Park. No suspect information is available at this time and police are investigating the incident.

Jermaine Jordan, 23, was shot and killed Wednesday in Congress Heights in Wednesday afternoon, May 13th.

Domonique Bussie, 21, was described as missing by DC Police. He was last seen in Buena Vista early Sunday morning. Police are asking for the public’s help in locating him.

Marion Christopher Barry, son of former DC Mayor Barry, has agreed to a plea in connection with an outburst at a Chinatown area bank earlier this year. According to reports, Mr. Barry threw a trashcan over security glass and destroyed a security camera while at the bank.

Former Georgetown neighborhood Rabbi Barry Freundel was sentenced to six and a half years in prison. Mr. Fruendel previously pled guilty to secretly videotaping nude women as they prepared for a ritual bath.

The tires of dozens of vehicles across Mount Pleasant neighborhood were slashed over the weekend. No suspect information is available and authorities are investigating the incident.

DC Crime Summary – May 6th – 12th

This week law enforcement officials from across the nation will visit DC for the annual Police Week events. The events honors police officers who have died in the line of duty, and the DC Police Union joins these officers and remembers those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our communities.

DC Firefighter Lt. Kevin McRae, 44, died Wednesday, May 6th, after he helped put out a 2-alarm fire in a Shaw neighborhood apartment. Funeral arrangements are schedule for this Friday. The DC Police Union offers its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of Lt. James McRae.

Terrance Wayne Moore, 27, was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Bloomingdale. No suspect information is available at this time.

Rasdavid Lagarde, 28, was sentenced to 28 years in prison for fatally shooting Howard University student Omar Sykes in July 2013.

A man is wanted for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a woman early Sunday morning in Near Northeast. The suspect was last seen driving a four-door sedan with an Uber cab decal on a rear window of the vehicle.

Photos were released of a woman who was found dead in a Chevy Chase apartment in November 2014. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the woman.

Jason Underwood, a teacher at a DC charter school, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a student. According to reports, the teacher grabbed a male student by his neck and slammed him into the wall as yelled curses at the student.

DC prosecutors have recommended a 17-year prison sentence for former Georgetown Rabbi Barry Freundel. Mr. Freundel pleaded guilty to secretly videotaping 52 women as they prepared for a ritual bath.

MPD Detectives David Adams, Michael Murphy, and Shayne O’Bannon as well as Officers Ryan Orgel and Michael Kasco received “Officer of the Month” awards for helping to arrest nine suspects wanted for their involvement in a drug ring.

A woman was assaulted and robbed early Sunday morning in Adams Morgan. DC Police are searching for four men in connection with case, and according to reports, two men assaulted the victim with the intent to commit a first-degree sexual abuse.

Mark Beasley, 42, was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Darryn Conte near the Takoma Metro station this past Sunday. Mr. Beasley was charged with first-degree murder while armed.

Elijah Jeremiah Smith, 19, was identified the suspect who allegedly assaulted a 69-year-old man at the Eastern Market Metro station this past week.

Brian Jackson, 26, was arrested Wednesday morning, April 29th, and charged in connection with the stabbing death of Joshua Steele, 23, in Congress Heights on April 17th.

Elijah Jeremiah Smith, 19, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a 69-year-old man at the Eastern Market Metro station.

Darryn Conte, 39, was killed early Sunday morning, after he was shot near the Takoma Metro station. Another man was wounded in the shooting, and police are investigating the incident.

Charles David Hatcherson, 49, was identified as the man who was shot and killed near the Minnesota Avenue Metro station Thursday.

Rashad Allen, 33, was arrested Saturday night, and he was charged with shooting and killing David Simmons, 32. The incident took place the morning of March 15th.

Fuzz Woody Short Fuzzy, 70, was identified as the body that was found in Tidal Basin on April 11th.

A teenage boy was injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon near Congress Heights Metro station. The victim was taken to a local hospital, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Glenvert Leon Green, 24, was arrested in connection with sexually assaulting a woman in Columbia Heights Tuesday morning. According to reports, he forced a woman into an alley before assaulting her. He was formally charged with kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse, and robbery.

A 69-year-old man was punched in the face and spat on by a teenage boy this past Friday at Eastern Market Metro station. A video was released of the suspect, and police are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

A Dunbar High School student was arrested after she allegedly attacked a teacher Friday afternoon.

A video was released of two persons of interest wanted for burglary in Hill East. The incident reportedly took place Tuesday, April 21st, and authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating the persons of interest.

WMATA officials announced the implementation of four new safety measures designed to help prevent a situation similar to the deadly smoke incident that took place about a month ago. The plan includes replacing or improving all lights in Metro tunnels, limiting the level of debris in the tunnels, and reviewing the alarm and ventilation systems.

DC Crime Summary – April 15th – 21st

A DC Police Officer was punched, while trying to take a suspect into custody Saturday night. The police officer was responding to a shooting in the Shaw neighborhood when the fight broke out.

Nathaniel Brooks, 32, passed away after he was injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon near the Southern Avenue Metro station. No suspect information is available at this time and police are investigating the incident.

A teenage boy and girl were shot Thursday evening in the Benning Ridge neighborhood. The injuries are believed to be non-life threatening and police are investigating the incident.

A man was stabbed Friday night in Congress Heights and he was critically wounded. No suspect information is available at this time and authorities are investigating the incident.

Last week, a 23-year-old man was attacked by 5 people at the Congress Heights Metro station. His jaw was broken in two places, four teeth were nearly knocked out, and he suffered a concussion. Authorities have released images of three suspects, and the incident is being investigated as a possible hate crime.

Jerome Jackson, 11, was reported as critically missing. He was last seen Thursday near Fort Stanton Park and police are asking for the public’s help in locating him.

Nine people were arrested by DC police this past Wednesday, April 15th. They were charged in connection with a robbery at a pharmacy near the Waterfront Metro station.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday for allegedly attacking a Metrobus driver with a Taser in Brightwood.

Dough Hughes, the man who landed his gyrocopter on the lawn of the US Capitol building on Wednesday, was charged with a felony Thursday. He faces up to 4 years in prison if convicted.

Dominic Adesanya, 23, agreed to a plea deal, Friday. He was previously charged with jumping the White House Fence in October.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – April 8th – 14th

A security guard was shot and killed at the US Census Bureau headquarters in Suitland Md. Thursday night. The incident allegedly began with the suspect – Ronald Anderson – kidnapping his girlfriend in DC and ended in a dramatic car chase that involved a shooting. A DC police officer was wounded in the shooting and the suspect was charged with kidnapping and assaulting an officer.

A man’s body was found in the water near the Tidal Basin Saturday afternoon, and police are asking for the public’s help identifying the body. According to reports, the man was about 30-50 years old and he was wearing a laminated business card around his neck that said, “Fuzz W.S. Fuzzy Shoe Shine Doctor.”

A Howard University student died Sunday after he was found unresponsive. Authorities are investigating the cause of death.

Dominique Johnson, 19, was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with the stabbing death of a 30-year-old lawyer in a downtown hotel. The suspect was the second person arrested in connection with the case.

Leo Thornton, 22, was identified as the man who committed suicide Saturday on the West front of the U.S. Capitol building. Mr. Thornton died from shooting himself and no one else was injured in the incident.

A person was stabbed Tuesday afternoon at the Benning Road Metro station. It is not clear if the victim was stabbed inside or outside of the Metro station and authorities are investigating the incident.

Andre Wonson, a rookie DC firefighter, will appear in court later this month after he was arrested for possessing an unregistered firearm and ammunition.

Arthur Baldwin, an off-duty member of the Secret Service, was arrested Friday morning and charged with the first-degree burglary of his ex-girlfriend’s home.

The DC attorney general’s office has filed complaints against half a dozen Petworth neighborhood convenience stores that are allegedly selling illegal synthetic drugs.

DC Crime Summary – April 1st – 7th

MPD Police Officer Dorian DeSantis was awarded the Congressional Badge of Bravery Wednesday, April 1st, for his heroic acts during the Washington Navy Yard shooting in 2013. Officer Desantis was shot in his vest, but he managed to bring others to safety before firing back at the shooter.

Demitric Joseph Green, 38, was shot and killed in Congress Heights Monday night. No information is available at this time and police are searching for the suspect.

A 16-year-old was fatally shot in the Fort Dupont park neighborhood area Monday night. No information is available at this time and police are searching for the suspect.

Jamyra Gallmon, 21, was arrested Wednesday and charged with fatally stabbing David Messerschmitt in a Downtown hotel in February. According to reports, authorities believe robbery was the motive in the homicide.

Melissa Langley, 20 was arrested yesterday, and was charged with stabbing a Metro station manager. According to reports, Ms. Langley stabbed the victim after he refused to let her access the Metro without paying.

Jerome Jackson, 11, was also reported missing by authorities. He was last seen Friday near the Stadium Armory Metro station. Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.

A video was released of a person of interest in an armed robbery in the LeDroit park neighborhood. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect.

American University students held a rally against sexual violence yesterday demanding that the school’s president call for mandatory sexual assault prevention education.

The National Zoo increased security for Easter Monday. The National Zoo traditionally has held a “Family Day” event on Easter Monday, but it has been marred with violence in recent years.

DC Crime Summary – March 25th – 31st

Antonio Ayala, 34, was shot and killed early Monday morning in the Brightwood neighborhood. According to reports, the victim was shot following an attempted armed robbery. Two males wearing masks were described as suspects.

A man was killed in a duplex fire in the Chillum neighborhood this past Friday. A second person was taken to a hospital and treated for smoke inhalation. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

A 14-year-old girl was shot near Nationals Park Friday afternoon. The victim was shot in the leg when “numerous shots” were reportedly fired at people on P Street SW.

A teenage girl was arrested Thursday afternoon after she allegedly stabbing a male, about 18 to 19 years old, inside of a Options Charter School in the Stanton Park neighborhood. The victim’s injuries were described as non-life threatening.

The wife of a Washington lawyer who was found stabbed to death in a downtown hotel last month publicly asked DC residents for help in identifying the person who murdered him. Police have released a video of a person of interest in the case and are asking for the public’s help in identifying her.

A video was released of three persons of interest firing gunshots in a parking lot near the Anacostia Park Wednesday afternoon. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

Ariel Taylor, 13, has been reported as missing by DC police. She was last seen March 12th near the Potomac Avenue Metro Station and authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating her.

After a 9-year-old boy with cerebral palsy was found beaten, malnourished, and locked in a room with duct tape stuck to his wrists and ankles, his mom, Betty T. Threatt, was arrested. She is reportedly expected to enter a plea deal, though details have not been released.

DC Crime Summary – March 18th – 24th

Milton A. Swinson, 30, was found dead in a burning car Thursday morning in Southeast. The victim was shot and police have ruled the death a homicide. No suspect information is available at this time.

Tyrone Moore, 32, was stabbed and killed inside of a Northeast home early Sunday morning. Harold Marshall, 38, was arrested in the case and was charged with first-degree murder.

Richard Dudley, 61, was stabbed to death Thursday afternoon in Southeast. Andrew Miller, 32, was arrested in connection with the killing, and has been charged with first-degree murder.

Momodu I. Bello was arrested and charged with second-degree murder of Nancy Tinoza, 26. According to reports, Mr. Bello crashed his car into a parked vehicle early Sunday morning, which resulted in Ms. Tinoza’s death.

A woman was shot in the leg while riding a Metrobus on Route 92 in Southeast this past Friday. Two men who were riding the bus are in custody in connection with the shooting.

Damontay Holliway, 23, was arrested Thursday evening in connection with last week’s shooting death of Marcus Troy Alston, 27. Mr. Holliway was charged with first-degree murder while armed.

David Morris, 33, was arrested in connection with assaulting an adult male. Mr. Morris was formally charged with assault with the intent to kill.

Christopher Wallace, 30, was sentenced to 42 months in prison after he was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse sexually assaulting a woman in Glover-Archbold Park in 2014.

A DC police officer waited more than 20 minutes for a DC ambulance that never arrived Tuesday afternoon. An ambulance was called to the scene when the officer sustained injuries while making an arrest.

DC police held an emergency meeting Saturday in Petworth with residents. The event was used to address the uptick in violence, which includes a shooting and a homicide near the Petworh Metro station, and attendees discussed realistic ways they could purge crime.

DC Crime Summary – March 11th – 17th

DC police are investigating human remains that were found in Southeast Wednesday afternoon. So far, authorities believe that the victim is an African American male and he was at least 50 years old when he died.

Marcus Troy Alston, 27, was shot and killed Saturday in Southeast. No suspect information is available at this time and police are investigating the incident.

David Simmons, 32, was fatally shot Sunday in a double shooting in Southeast. The other victim was taken to a local hospital and authorities are investigating the case.

Christopher Adams, 20, was identified as the victim who was shot and killed Thursday morning in Brightwood Park. Glenn R. Walker, 24, was arrested in the case and charged with first-degree murder while armed.

Astrian Horton, 32, was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder. Mr. Horton allegedly killed Deon Coleman almost seven years ago in the District.

Kevin Walker, 39, was sentenced to 80 years for killing his brother and sister during an altercation in Northeast in 2013.

James Johnson, 32, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was convicted of killing Talbert Mitchell Bright. According to reports, Mr. Johnson shot and killed the victim after the victim refused to give him a can of beer.

A woman stabbed a Metro station manager Sunday at Stadium-Armory. According to reports, the victim was stabbed after he would not let the woman go through the fare gate without paying.

A man was stabbed inside of a homeless shelter Wednesday near Judiciary Square. According to reports, the victim had been in a weeks-long argument with the person who stabbed him.

Reginald Klaiber, 25, was sentenced to 56 months in prison after he allegedly pleaded guilty to stabbing a transgender girl on a Metro train in July 2014.

DC Crime Summary – March 4th – 10th

A woman was stabbed to death Saturday morning in Columbia Heights. Authorities are investigating the incident and no other information is available at this time.

Deonte Bethea was shot and killed Saturday night in Columbia Heights. No suspect information is available at this time and police are investigating the incident.

Thomas Deal, 33, was fatally shot early Thursday morning in Southeast. Residents told police that they heard as many as ten gunshots in the incident and no suspect information is available at this time.

Kalif Brown, 21, was arrested in connection with the murder of Rico Myers near Congress Heights Metro station about a month ago. Mr. Brown was charged Friday with felony murder while armed.

Vernon Bullock, 32, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder of Lakida Goodman, 34, in Southeast. Police had been searching for Mr. Bullock since February 23rd, when they obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Authorities arrested Shaquan Gaskins, 18, and Desean Cheadle, 20, and they were charged in connection with a Capitol Hill area robbery and stabbing that took place in February. According to reports, the victim told detectives that the attackers were his friends.

Ariel Taylor, 13, was reported as missing by DC Police. She was last seen on March 3rd in Northeast. She has brown eyes, brown hair, and was last seen wearing tan pants and a sky blue shirt. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating her.

Kimberly Pinkley, a 45-year-old DC fire inspector, pleaded guilty Monday to using a taxpayer-funded credit card to purchase more than $11,000 in gas for a personal vehicle. She has resigned from the fire department and faces up to three years in prison.

An MPD Police officer was attempting to pull over a female ATV driver in Northwest when about 40 youths on ATVs surrounded the officer’s car and began kicking his cruiser Sunday evening.

DC Crime Summary – February 25th – March 3rd

Davon Barnes, 25, was allegedly shot and killed in the Deanwood neighborhood February 24th by his younger brother, Bobby Barnes, 21. According to reports, the two brothers were arguing about the suspect’s son when the situation escalated. The suspect has been charged with first-degree murder.

A juvenile male was shot near an elementary school Friday afternoon in Southeast. Jerlyu Wood was arrested Saturday in connection with the shooting and he was charged with assault with the intent to kill.

A father waiting to pick up his child outside of a Northeast elementary school was carjacked Friday evening. The driver was approached by four suspects in a dark-colored sedan.

A man has been arrested in connection with an armed carjacking in Georgetown. The incident took place Wednesday afternoon and police are still searching for a man who was believed to have been driving a Ford Explorer SUV.

A mosque in Northeast was vandalized for the second time in the past week. The vandals ripped religious items off the walls during the second incident, leading some to believe that this was a hate crime.

Bridgette Robertson, 30, was arrested this past weekend and charged in connection with a shooting at a city government parking ticket officer. It is not known why the parking enforcement agent was shot at but the agent was not hit in the incident.

DC officials announced that they are still searching for Relisha Rudd, an 8-year-old girl, who disappeared from DC’s General Homeless shelter about a year ago.

A video was released Saturday of a person of interest connected with an assault with a gun that took place in Northeast. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person of interest.

The possession of up to 2 ounces of marijuana is now legal in the District but questions remain over how the law will be enforced. DC Police Union Secretary Marinos Marinos discussed these issues on MyFoxDC Thursday.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – February 18th – February 24th

DC police officer Shannon Strange was honored Thursday night for saving the life of Jaydan Stancil, 9, who was shot in the head this past October in Northeast. According to reports, officer Strange found Jaydan after he was shot, carried him to his cruiser, and was able to take him to a local hospital quick enough to save his life.

Marcus McClam, 29, was shot and killed in Brentwood Monday morning. Two men last seen wearing a blue and white jacket were described as suspects.

Torrey Bowman, 31, was shot and killed Sunday afternoon and police have arrested Ravinel Oliver, 18, and Keith Leftwich, 20, in connection with the case. The suspects were both charged first-degree murder.

A man was fatally shot Tuesday night near the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. No suspect information is available at this time.

Philip Snodgrass, a 27-year-old attorney walking to night classes at Georgetown Law school, was struck by a car and killed Monday night. The driver, James Brooks Chandler, was allegedly under the influence of narcotics and he was charged with second-degree murder.

Police identified the body of a woman, Lakida Goodman, 34, who was found dead about a month ago in Southeast. The cause of her death was determined to be homicide and Vernon Bullock, 32, is being sought for arrest. He is wanted for second-degree murder.

A video was released of several persons of interest connected with the 2014 homicide of Daniel Calvin Short. Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying the persons of interest.

Rasdavid Lagarde, 27, faces 20 to 30 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the 2013 fatal shooting of Omar Sykes, a 22-year-old student at Howard University, during a robbery.

A photo was released of a suspect wanted for carjacking a vehicle with a child inside Tuesday evening. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

A juvenile was arrested Friday and was charged with 10 counts of second-degree burglary and one count of first-degree burglary.

Georgetown rabbi Barry Freundel pleaded guilty to 52 counts of voyeurism. He also admitted to secretly videotaping dozens of nude women as they prepared for ritual baths.

DC Crime Summary – February 11th – February 17th

David Messerschmitt, 30, was identified as the man who was stabbed and killed Tuesday, February 10th, inside of a hotel room in downtown DC. Police have released a video of a person of interest in the homicide and authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

Rico Myers, 25, was killed in a shooting Monday near the Capitol Heights Metro station. Homicide investigators were called to the scene and no other information is available at this time.

Tyrik Lamont Brown pleaded guilty Thursday to voluntary manslaughter of his one-month-old son, Raj’saun Tyrik Brown. Medical examiners had previously found fractures to the leg, skull, and ribs of the infant’s body.

So far this year, DC police have arrested more than 50 individuals connected to prostitution in the Thomas Circle area alone. This is the result of an ongoing effort to arrest people who are using the Internet to search for prostitutes in the District.

Two men and two juveniles were arrested Friday and charged with a series of carjackings and motor vehicle thefts in the District.

Christopher Barry, son of former Mayor Barry and candidate for Ward 8 Council seat, was offered a plea deal by DC prosecutors after he was charged with threatening a bank teller.

A video was released of 4 people connected with an assault with a gun that took place January in Southeast. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

DC officials have reported that Georgetown Rabbi Barry Freundel secretly recorded at least 150 women.

A man suspected of stealing two kittens from a Petco in Columbia Heights was arrested Thursday but the kittens are still missing.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – February 4th – February 10th

Tracey Dick, 46, was stabbed and killed Wednesday night in Southeast. No suspect information is available at this time and police are investigating the incident.

A man was found dead in his hotel room Tuesday afternoon in downtown DC and police are investigating the case as a homicide.

A stabbing was reported on a Metro train at Federal Center Southeast Wednesday. According to reports, a man stole a cellphone from another Metro rider. While the suspect tried to escape another man tried to stop him but was ultimately stabbed by the suspect.

There were at least four shootings in the District this past weekend and authorities are investigating the incidents.

Dujaun Garris, 21, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder of James Anderson, 27, in January.

Authorities are searching for a suspect wanted for burglary and attempted sexual assault in Southeast Sunday morning. According to reports, the suspect also stabbed two residents in the home he burglarized, including the woman he tried to assault.

Leroy Damien Ware, a 33-year-old elementary school teacher in Northeast, was arrested Thursday and charged with child sexual abuse.

A woman was attacked by ten juveniles in the Columbia Heights neighborhood. Four of the suspects were arrested in connection with the assault.

A DC water treatment plant worker was arrested after he took out a shotgun during an argument. The suspect did not point the gun at anybody but the incident did force the DC Water headquarters into a temporary lockdown.

Hung Nguyen, a Dupont Circle nail technician, was charged with inappropriately touching three of his clients from November 2013 to August 2014. One woman claimed Mr. Nugyen put his hand inside her shirt and pants after giving her a pedicure.

There were 25 cars that were broken into Wednesday at Howard University parking lots.

Congress Heights neighborhood residents called DC police after tires on their automobiles were slashed overnight Sunday. According to reports, there were as many as 30 cars that had slashed tires in the area.

DC Crime Summary – January 28th – February 3rd

Novontae Howard, 19, was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon near a shopping center in Southeast. DC police are investigating the incident and no suspect information is available at this time.

Maria Lydia Cruz’s body was discovered in a waterway Saturday near the Reagan National Airport. DC police are investigating the cause of her death.

DC police are asking for the public’s help in locating Andre Joyner, 24. Mr. Joyner is wanted for the second-degree murder of Jaime Washington, 31, in late November 2014.

Lorenzo Lamont Belton, 29, was arrested and charged in connection with a January 28th shooting.

A man was stabbed inside of Midtown lounge in Northwest this past Sunday.

Christopher Lucas and Jennie Chang were arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with second-degree cruelty to children. According to reports, the adults left two toddlers in a car while they attended a private wine tasting event.

According to DC authorities, a 9-year-old boy with cerebral palsy was tortured and locked in a room by his mother, Betty Threatt, and her boyfriend, Lester Jackson. Ms. Threatt hit her son with a belt and taped her son’s ankles and wrists with duct tape to punish her son over a one-year period.

Rae-John Montral Gerald, 19, was arrested by DC police and charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. The alleged incidents of sexual abuse took place in Southeast this past November.

A trio of criminals has stolen prescription pills and cash from at least three small pharmacies over the past month. According to police, they used ski masks, hoods, and gloves to disguise their appearance.

Two DC fire employees were arrested for allegedly using taxpayer-funded credit cards to purchase thousands of dollars of gasoline for their personal automobiles. In one case, a female employee bought over $11,000 in gasoline over a three-year period.

Mary Lue Davis, 61, was reported as missing from Northeast. She was last seen at 3400 Benning Road NE and authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating her.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – January 21st – January 27th

DC police released a video of a gunman standing in the middle of a street in Congress Heights and shooting Kevin Owens, 22, on January 19th. While one suspect (22-year-old Markell Alston) has been arrested, authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the second suspect in video.

Jerald Williams, 45, was found shot to death early Sunday morning at a restaurant near Howard University. No suspect information is available at this time.

A security guard at a Safeway in Northeast was stabbed multiple times Friday morning. Police are searching for a male suspect who is balding, about 200 lbs., and was last seen wearing a brown jacket.

There were three shootings in the District this past weekend and one of the victims was killed.

A man was stabbed Monday night on the first floor of DC’s Martin Luther King Jr. Library. The victim was wounded in the neck and authorities are searching for a man last seen wearing a blue jacket and blue pants.

A DC bar flight Saturday night led to a stabbing outside of the Takoma Station Tavern. According to police, the fight started inside the bar and continued outside when one person stabbed in the back.

Mickey Crawford, 54, was charged with kidnapping and assault with intent to commit first-degree sexual abuse. According to reports, Mr. Crawford allegedly groped and tried to sexually assault a woman in Adams Morgan.

An American University Professor, 38-year-old David Pitts, charged with breaking into an office building and setting several small fires has pleaded guilty to burglary. He will be sentenced March 20th.

According to reports, basketball commentator Greg Anthony allegedly offered an undercover police officer $80 for sex at the Doubletree Hotel when he was arrested earlier this month.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – January 14th – January 20th

Kevin Owens, 22, was shot and killed Monday afternoon in Congress Heights. Police are investigating the incident and no suspect information is available at this time.

Philip Jones, 17, was shot and killed Wednesday night. Mr. Jones was waiting for a bus after playing a basketball game, when he was shot. A 14-year-old female was also shot in the incident.

Two people were shot late Monday night on a Metrobus near Union Station. A man, about 5’10” tall, was described as a suspect. He was last seen wearing a red jacket and a black hat.

A juvenile male was stabbed Thursday in front of the Richard Wright Public Charter School near the Navy Yard in Southeast. The juvenile male is expected to recover from his injuries.

Four men were shot in two separate incidents Thursday. All of the victims were reported as conscious and breathing. No suspect information is available at this time.

Former professional basketball player and current CBS sports commentator Greg Anthony, 47, was arrested Friday and charged with soliciting a prostitute. Mr. Anthony was one of several people arrested in an undercover sting operation.

Marion Christopher Barry, son of the late former DC mayor, was accused of threatening a bank teller Tuesday, January 13th. He is expected to turn himself in to police Tuesday or Wednesday, January 20th and 21st, respectively.

DC police found a toddler wandering the streets alone early Monday morning. The young boy, about 2-3 years old, was barefoot when police found him. Ultimately, he was reunited with his parents.

DC Crime Summary – January 7th – January 13th

• James Anderson, 27, was shot and killed Sunday night in Southwest. It was the third fatal shooting of the past weekend and fifth homicide in DC since the start of the New Year.

• Andrew Newman, 17, was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Northeast. The victim and a group of friends were leaving a party when they were attacked with a barrage of gunfire.

• Eduardo Carias-Martinez, 21, was shot and killed Saturday night in Columbia Heights.

• Marvin Stewart, 49, was stabbed and killed Thursday in Northeast. Brandon Bruce Franklin, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the case.

• Friday, January 9th, was National Law Enforcement appreciation day. The DC Police Union would like to thank all of DC’s police who work hard to ensure our city is safe.

• The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a Metro malfunction that resulted one person’s death and over eighty people hospitalized.

• An 18-year-old teenager was arrested Thursday night, after he walked into a Northeast police station with a replica gun that looked almost identical to a real handgun. Officers wrestled the gun away. The suspect allegedly used the replica to steal a car earlier in the night.

• Darren Patterson, 21, was arrested and charged Wednesday in the shooting death of Daniel Hilton, 21, in Petworth on December 23rd.

• A 19-year-old man wearing a mask walked into a Northeast 7-eleven and tried to rob the store, while two District detectives, dressed in plain clothes, were in the same convenience store. The DC police officers were able to apprehend the suspect and the suspect was charged with attempted robbery.

• District authorities ordered that the Foggy Bottom bar Zanzibar close, after a prolonged brawl resulted in a stabbing.

DC Crime Summary – December 31st – January 6th

• A surge of fatal shootings in the final weeks of 2014 pushed the total number of homicides for the year to 105. Homicides have increased each year since 2012.

• A vigil was held outside of the Northeast Performing Arts Center on New Year’s Eve in memory of young homicide victims this past year. Nearly half of the homicide victims in the District this past year were under the age of 25.

• Rahji Jerod Ross, 35, was shot and killed Saturday near the Anacostia Community Museum. Police are searching for two men who were last seen wearing all black clothing and masks.

• Maurice Blakely, 23, and Joseph Minor, 24, were arrested Wednesday and charged in the death of Gregory Lee, 28. The victim was shot and killed on Christmas Eve near the Anacostia Metro station.

• Jimmie Fleming, 36, of DC was sentenced to 36 years in prison after he pled guilty to the July 2014 voluntary manslaughter of Donchell Thomas, 21, and Derek Price, 20.

• U.S. Prosecutors have ruled that they will not charge John Hinckley in the death of former President Reagan’s press secretary James Brady. Mr. Hinckley remains under institutional psychiatric care.

• Joseph Ricardo Johnson, 35, was arrested in connection to a stabbing Saturday morning at the Zanzibar Night Club. The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

• DC police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two persons of interest in connection to a stabbing at the popular Foggy Bottom bar McFadden’s.

• A man was kidnapped and sexually assaulted Thursday morning in Southeast. Police are searching for four men last seen inside of a beige minivan.

• Michael Centanni, a political fundraiser, pleaded guilty Monday to a child pornography charge. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and he will be sentenced on April 9th.

DC Crime Summary – December 10th – 16th

• A teenager was fatally shot with his own shotgun Wednesday morning, December 10th, in Southeast. The teenager was trying to rob another man, and a struggle ensued. Ultimately the victim gained possession of the gun and shot the suspect.

• A 12-year-old boy was shot inside of a Petworth home Saturday night, December 13th. The victim was described as “conscious and breathing” Sunday morning.

• Kevin Walker, 39, was found guilty of first-degree murder of his brother and sister in 2013.

• John Fitzgerald General, 50, was convicted of strangling Deborah McKinney, 38, in a stairwell of a Mount Vernon Square building in 1997.

• A man was shot Wednesday afternoon, December 10th, near Thurgood Marshall Academy. Nearby schools were placed on lock down after the shooting, and police are searching for three suspects in the case.

• A man was shot in Petworth Sunday afternoon, December 14th. The victim was taken to a hospital, and he is being treated for serious injuries. Police are searching for two teenage males with slim builds in the case.

• According to DC police reports, a man was responsible for robbing another man in the parking lot of a PNC bank in Northwest. The suspect was wearing a suit and allegedly sprayed the victim with pepper spray before robbing him.

• An armed gunman robbed the University of the District of Columbia’s campus bookstore Friday, December 12th.

• Roy Steven McCall, a 21-year-old Gallaudet student, was arrested and charged with assaulting a DC firefighter Saturday, December 13th. According to DC police, Mr. McCall was driving wildly through campus and his vehicle hit a DC firefighter before pinning the firefighter against a truck.

DC Crime Summary – December 3rd – 9th

• Anthony Leak, Jr., 37, was fatally shot Thursday afternoon, December 4th, near the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. The victim was found in a car and no suspect information is available at this time.

• Kevin Lamont Robinson, 46, was shot and killed in the Edgewood area December 1st.

• Heritage Jones, 21, was arrested Wednesday, December 3rd, in connection with the murder of Kirk Deangelo Perry, 50, Monday, December 1st. DC police believe the victim was shot after an argument over his dog.

• A 14-year-old was stabbed in the back in the Shaw neighborhood Thursday morning, December 4th. According to reports, the attackers robbed the victim of his Air Jordan shoes and cell phone before stabbing him.

• Dawit Seyoum, 29, was indicted Monday, December 8th, for first-degree murder of Carolyn Cross, the DC’s deputy director of corrections.

• Steven Sollera, 39, pleaded guilty Wednesday, December 3rd, to arranging to have sex with a child in DC on June 10th. He faces up to 30 years in prison for travelling across state lines to engage in sexual conduct with a minor.

• A woman and her child were carjacked at gunpoint at the New Carrollton Metro Station Sunday, December 7th. Authorities are investigating if the criminals used that same vehicle to attempt burglary a couple of hours later in Friendship Heights.

• Delores White-Hillard, 55, was reported as a “Missing Person Critical” on Friday, December 5th. She was last seen at 4400 Livingston Road SE, and she was wearing gray t-shirt, light blue jeans, and a Falcons jacket.

• DC police released a video of a burglary suspect jumping over a fence after he allegedly committed a robbery in Southeast Thursday, November 6th. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

DC Crime Summary – November 26th – December 2nd

• Jamie Washington, 31, was fatally stabbed in a Benning Road alley Friday, November 28th. Police are investigating the incident and no suspect information is available at this time.

• Robert Damien Martson, 33, was found dead in an alley Sunday evening, November 30th. The investigation is ongoing.

• A 7-year-old girl was struck by a stray gunshot outside of her Southeast apartment Tuesday, November 25th. This is the fourth time a child from the District was hit by a stray bullet this year.

• A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were shot in Northwest Monday morning, December 1st. The teenage victims were shot as they were walking to Dunbar High School, and the gunman was described as a 16-18 year old who was last seen wearing khaki pants and a gray hoodie.

• Two people, a man and a woman, were stabbed on Thanksgiving night, November 27th. Police do not believe the two incidents are related.

• Two teenage boys reportedly kidnapped a man in Petworth and forced him into the trunk of a car Tuesday evening, December 2nd. The victim was ultimately able to escape after the car was involved in a minor crash.

• Charles A. Young, a former coach at Dunbar Senior High School who was charged with first- and second-degree sexual abuse, was ordered to remain in jail.

• Esmeralda Lovos, a woman in a wheelchair, was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Northwest, Tuesday morning, December 2nd. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.

• DC police are searching for a black limousine with a DC tag (L5895), after a robbery suspect was seen in the vehicle Monday afternoon, December 1st.

DC Crime Summary – November 12th – November 18th

• Two police officers were injured in a car crash on Sunday, November 16th, as they responded to a shooting in Southeast. The officers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital.

• Tyrone Lee Lewis, 27, was shot and killed in Fort Dupont on Thursday, November 13th. Police are actively investigating the homicide, and no suspect information is available at this time.

• Tyrik Lamont Brown, 19, was arrested and charged with beating to death his 1-month-old son.

• Lillian Rubin, a 90-year-old, woman who was reported as missing, was found dead on Friday, November 14th. She was previously last seen near the Van Ness Metro station, and authorities are investigating the incident as an undetermined death.

• A juvenile male was arrested in connection with the murder of Johnie Lee Resper, 18, on October 1st.

• A pregnant woman was shot Saturday night, November 15th, in Northeast. Terrell Bringier, 25, was arrested for the shooting and charged with assault with the intent to kill.

• A man was stabbed in Deanwood on Monday night, November 17th. The victim was taken to a local hospital and a suspect has been arrested in the case.

• Emanuel Honemond, from DC, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing $100,000 from a bank in Clinton, MD.

• A 49-year-old man was sentenced to two years in prison after he was convicted of beating and sexually assaulting his wife this summer. According to police reports, he repeatedly used a taser to shock his wife.

• Barry Judge, a former executive with Living Social, was found guilty of groping a woman at the Four Seasons Hotel last year, and he was sentenced to eighteen months probation.

DC Crime Summary – November 5th – November 11th

• Tuesday, November 11th, marked Veterans Day, and the DC Police Union would like to honor all Veterans and their families.

• Frances Lyles, 25, was indicted on Wednesday, November 5th, on a first-degree murder charge of her 3-year-old son, Xavier. Frances Lyles allegedly beat her son to death and she is facing a life sentence without parole.

• Tyrron Lamont Sweeney, 22, was arrested on Friday, November 7th, and charged with two counts of first-degree murder while armed earlier this year.

• A man was stabbed at the Gallery Place Metro station on Saturday night, November 8th. The victim suffered non life-threatening injuries and a suspect has been placed in custody.

• Edgar Blanco, 18, was arrested for stabbing and killing Inoe Javier Salvador, 41, on October 29th, in Columbia Heights. Mr. Blanco was charged with first-degree murder.

• Andrew Allen, Keith Bobb, and Arnell Smith were sentenced to 20-25 years in jail after they pleaded guilty to a drive-by shooting that left 13 people injured in 2013.

• A man was stabbed near the Dupont Circle Metro station on Wednesday, November 5th. A suspect has been arrested and police believe this is an instance of domestic violence.

• A woman riding along the Metropolitan Branch Trail was pulled off her bike, robbed, and assaulted by a stranger on Wednesday, November 5th.

• There have been three robberies at gunpoint in Northwest over the past 10 days that may be related. In each instance, two robbers approached the victims from behind as they showed a gun.

• Kenneth Clayton, an arrestee who escaped from a psychiatric institute, was captured on Friday afternoon, November 7th, in Manassas.

• A Georgetown University student was sentenced to a year in prison after he was convicted of producing ricin in his dormitory room earlier this year.

• Mark Alan Wall, a DC real estate agent, was indicted by a grand jury on Monday, November 3rd for money laundering. Authorities believe he was involved in a $300,000 scheme.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – October 29th – November 4th

A DC police officer was attacked by an ax wielding man on October 31st in Brookland. The officer was not struck, but he suffered non life-threatening injuries during the struggle and police are searching for the suspect.

Raj’saun Tyrik Brown, a one-month-old boy from Southeast, died after police found him unconscious on October 29th. Authorities are investigating the boy’s death as a homicide and an autopsy has revealed that the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Inoe Javier Salvador, 41, was fatally stabbed in Columbia Heights on Wednesday, October 29th. He was the second person to be fatally stabbed in the neighborhood in the past month.

Latroia Smith, 25, was found dead inside of a burning building in Southeast on Sunday, November 2nd. Police do not yet know the cause of the victim’s death and homicide detectives are involved in the case. Ms. Smith was a mother to three young boys.

A man was shot near the Shaw-Howard Metro Station on Monday, November 3rd. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and police are looking for a suspect in his 20s who was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.

Alex Patrick McCoy was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Wednesday, October 29th, after he pleaded guilty to rape of an acquaintance. According to police reports, Mr. McCoy smoked crack cocaine before raping the victim in February 2013.

A video has been released of 8 persons of interest linked to the rape of a woman in Southeast. According to the police, the suspects abducted the victim and brought her to an abandoned row house before committing first-degree sexual abuse.

Kenneth Clayton escaped from a psychiatric hospital on Monday, November 3rd. According to police reports, he fled through the back door. Mr. Clayton had been arrested on Sunday, November 2nd for assault on a police officer and he was under DC’s Department of Corrections’ custody.

Crime Update from the DC Police Union, City Wide

DC Crime Summary – October 15th – 21st

• Jabari Fields, 29, was fatally shot Monday morning, October 20th, in the Brightwood Park neighborhood. Two other people were also injured in the shooting, and police are looking for a suspect driving a Monte Carlo with a Maryland tag (2AY2516).

• A 14-year-old boy who shot and killed his best friend a month ago thought that the gun was unloaded, according to a police affidavit that was unsealed on Friday, October 17th.

• Police arrested three people for illegally attempting to sell firearms near the Columbia Heights Metro Station on Friday afternoon, October 17th.

• A quadruple stabbing took place early Tuesday morning, October 21st, in Columbia Heights. A man has been placed in custody.

• There were fouur sexual assaults reported early Sunday morning, October 19th, in Georgetown, Dupont Circle, and Foggy Bottom. Mustapha Kone, 46, was arrested and charged with attempting to sexually assault two women in Foggy Bottom.

• Two people were robbed at gunpoint on the H Street corridor early Sunday morning, October 19th. The suspects were ordered to lie on the ground, while the criminals took cash and the victims’ cell phones. Ultimately, DC police arrested two suspects linked to the robbery and recovered stolen items.

• A man filling his car with gas at a Rhode Island Avenue gas station was the victim of an armed carjacking. Two suspects approached the victim and ordered him to lie on the ground at gunpoint, while the criminals took the victim’s keys and drove away.

• Barry Fruendel, a prominent rabbi of a Georgetown Synagogue was arrested and charged on October 14th with recording women while they undressed and took ritual baths in his synagogue.

• Barry Judge, the chief marketing officer of LivingSocial, was found guilty of groping a woman at a Four Seasons Hotel in Northwest.

• A cab driver who convinced drunk people to give him their ATM cards and PINs in DC received more than three years in prison.

• Police released a video of a DC parking attendant who was severely beaten in an attack near the Gallery Place Metro Station.
