ABOUT THE D.C. POLICE UNION

The Fraternal Order of Police D.C. Police Union represents the 3,600 officers, detectives and sergeants who make up the District of Columbia’s Metropolitan Police Department. Our officers are committed to protecting the residents of Washington — and we are committed to helping protect our officers.

Our union has years of active law enforcement experience. No one knows the dangers and difficulties faced by today’s police officers better than other officers, and no one knows D.C.’s officers better than the District of Columbia Police Union. We are the voice for those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities.

D.C.’s Police have made great strides in reducing crime in our city. Our city is much safer than decades ago — but we still have a long way to go to make Washington a safe place for all of it’s residents. By representing our officers and fighting to improve their working conditions, we’re also fighting for DC to become a safer city.

This website serves as a resource for officers and and their family — and it also serves our community and the citizens of our city. If you are not a member of the D.C. Police Union, you can use this site to stay alert to crime in your neighborhood, learn how D.C. Police fight to reduce crime, and how you can help!

For members, you know that historically, the D.C. Police Union has disseminated information through its Shop Stewards, on bulletin boards, and in meetings and roll calls. This website will augment those methods and provide a resource to answer the question: “Where do I find….?”

With the launch of our new website, the members of the D.C. Police Union will have all the information they need at the click of a mouse. Looking for the contract or bylaws of the Labor Committee? Just click on the ABOUT tab and you will find the contract and by-laws, as well as, D.C. Police Union newsletters and updates. Click on the NEWS tab and find links to major news outlets and other police unions. When the D.C. Police Union is in the news or media coverage is relevant to us as police officers, you will be able to find the information on the website. We will also feature members and guests writing about issues facing us as police officers in our BLOG.

We’re excited about the future of our union and our police force, because with hard work and your support, the D.C. Police Union and citizens can work together to make Washington, D.C., America’s best city to live in.
