WUSA9: Man killed in NE double shooting “A man is dead and another victim is recovering after a double shooting in Northeast, D.C. Thursday night. According to Metropolitan Police, the shooting happened in the 1800 block of Capitol Ave NE around 7:36 p.m. One man was found unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the back. He was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Another man suffering from a gunshot wound to the left hip was conscious when he was taken to a local hospital. No further details have been released at this time.”

Washington Post: Shooting leaves one dead in Southwest Washington “A shooting in Southwest Washington on Wednesday night left a Prince George’s County man dead, according to police. Officers responded at about 11 p.m. to a call in the 100 block of Irvington Street SW, where they found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds, according to D.C. police. The victim — identified as Marcus Barnes, 24 — was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The victim lived in Temple Hills, Md., police said.”

Washington Post: Second man arrested in 2015 fatal shooting in Southwest Washington “Police said Wednesday that they have arrested a second man in connection with a 2015 shooting in Southwest Washington. On July 23, 2015, about 4:55 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Darrington Street SW for a reported shooting, D.C. police said in a statement. They found 25-year-old Isiah Agyekum of Southwest suffering from gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he died, the statement said. Last month, police said they arrested 23-year-old Turell Campbell in the District in the shooting. Campbell, of Portsmouth, Va., was charged with first-degree murder while armed.”

Fox5DC: Police arrest 33-year-old man suspected of sexually abusing underage girl “D.C. Police have arrested a 33-year-old man suspected of sexually abusing an underage girl. Jimmy Augustin, of Fort Washington, was arrested by officers on Thursday and charged with Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse of a Minor after police say he was involved in an inappropriate relation with a juvenile female. The abuse allegedly occurred during the months of September and October of this year. The suspect and the victim were known to each other at the time of the alleged offenses. Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the case to call 202-727-9099.”

Washington City Paper: Washington Teachers Union head asks council to ‘censure’ mayor “In a letter sent yesterday afternoon to David Grosso, chair of the D.C. Council Committee on Education, the head of the Washington Teacher’s Union is crying foul on the process by which Mayor Muriel Bowser chose the District’s new schools chief Antwan Wilson, whom she introduced at a hastily convened press conference on Nov. 22—less than an hour after she informed a statutory review panel of her selection. In her letter, WTU President Elizabeth Davis asks the Council to ‘censure’ Bowser for flouting the law and the panel by making a public announcement before the panel reviewed the chancellor selection.”
