A 35-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday evening in Northwest Washington’s Petworth neighborhood, according to D.C. police. Juan Nelson Roberts of Northeast was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 6:10 p.m. in the 900 block of Shepherd Street NW, between Georgia and Kansas avenues. Police said he was shot several times. • A baby was found unharmed in Northeast DC after police said a suspect stole a car with the child inside on Monday. DC police said officers responded to 18th Street and Monroe Street, Northeast at about 10:15 a.m. for a report of a kidnapping. The victim told officers the sleeping baby was left in the car while the victim ran into a business quickly.

NBC Washington: Secret Service: Man at White House Wanted to Kill ‘All White Police’ “A man was arrested outside the White House Thursday after the Secret Service says they learned he traveled to D.C. to kill “all white police.” Michael Arega, of Dallas, Texas, was spotted on Pennsylvania Avenue near Lafayette Park about 4:05 p.m., the Secret Service said in a statement. He was immediately detained and arrested without incident.”

Washington Post: Police identify man found strangled with a bungee cord “D.C. police have identified a 53-year-old man found strangled last month with a bungee cord around his neck in his Northeast apartment. Police said Mawuli Kocuvie was found dead from asphyxiation inside a residence in the 1700 block of Benning Road on Oct. 28.”

Washington Post: Third suspect still wanted by police in fatal shooting of college-bound student, prosecutors say “D.C. prosecutors investigating the August fatal shooting of a 17-year-old, college-bound student said they are confident two men arrested in the case were involved in the incident, but that a third suspect, who remains at large, fired the deadly shot.”

A photo that quickly went viral shows her raising the middle finger of her left hand in defiance.”

Washington Post: Two more former UMC employees criticize consultants as contract vote looms “Two more high-ranking former employees of the District’s only public hospital stepped forward Monday to criticize the firm running the facility, even as the company’s owner fought back on the eve of a high-stakes D.C. Council vote on whether it should continue to manage United Medical Center.”

NBC Washington: DC Council Moves to Stave Off Opioid Addiction, Fatalities “Some D.C. city council members are seeking to limit access to opioid prescriptions and expand access to drugs that stop overdoses in an effort to fight the deadly opioid crisis. At least 190 D.C. residents have died from an opioid overdose this year, according to a recent report. Last year, the report says opioids claimed the lives of 231 D.C. residents.”
