The DC Police Union is asking members to fill out the following survey and tell Union leadership which issues you would like to prioritize during the contract negotiation process: • Police from across the nation participated in the 38th Annual Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service to honor officers who have died in the active line of duty. The ceremony marked the beginning of National Police Week. • DC Police are searching for a group of men who attacked two men with a belt buckle and robbed them along Georgia Ave NW. The victims were taken to a local hospital due to injuries they sustained in the attack.

WJLA: D.C. looks at new ways to protect children from human trafficking ” It’s considered a nationwide epidemic by D.C.‘s attorney general. “Every three minutes a child is sex trafficked. We cannot hide the reality of human trafficking,” said D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine.”

WJLA: Police: Group attacks, robs 2 men with belt buckle in NW DC, victims hospitalized “MPD is looking for a group of men who attacked two people with a belt buckle early Monday morning. The beating was so brutal, investigators said the two male victims were taken to the hospital. Their injuries are non-life threatening.”

Fox5DC: Anti-Semitic graffiti found near Georgetown University Jewish meeting space “Officials at Georgetown University say anti-Semitic graffiti has been found in a restroom near a campus Jewish meeting space. In a letter to the campus community on Monday, officials said the graffiti was found Sunday night in a restroom adjacent to the Makom Jewish Gathering Space at the Catholic university.”

WJLA: D.C. memorial service honors local police officers killed on duty “A solemn ceremony at the Washington Area Law Enforcement Officers Memorial on Monday honored local police officers killed in the line of duty. Their colleagues and families placed blue carnations at the memorial.”

WJLA: 5 fallen D.C. area police officers honored at MPD headquarters “Five fallen officers in the D.C. area who were either killed in the line of duty or died in 2016 were honored Monday at the D.C. police headquarters.”

Mayor and City Council

Fox5DC: Mayor Bowser holds safety walk in Ward 8 “D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and new Police Chief Peter Newsham led a community walk on Monday in a section of Southeast D.C. that has seen its share of crime. The mayor listened to residents’ concerns and promised to get help into the community.”
