Wayne Joaquin, 24, was fatally shot Saturday morning in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident. • Algernon Harvey Jones, 32, was shot and killed near Truxton Circle in Northwest early Saturday morning. Six other men and a woman were also injured in the shooting, and DC Police are actively investigating the incident.

Washington Post: Two fatal shootings during Memorial Day weekend “A man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in Northeast Washington in the second fatal shooting of the holiday weekend, and at least seven other shootings were reported in the city over the three-day period.”

WJLA: Teen charged for allegedly shooting man inside his car in Northeast D.C. “A teen was charged on May 28 for allegedly shooting a man inside his car in Oct. 2016 in Northeast Washington. Tayon Wright was charged as an adult with assault with intent to kill, according to police.”

Washington Post: Police arrest man in connection with five armed robberies in Southeast, Northeast “A 19-year-old man has been arrested by D.C. police and charged in connection with five armed robberies that occurred in April and May in Northeast and Southeast Washington, according to authorities.”

WJLA: Man wearing ‘Papa John’ shirt wanted for armed robbery in Southeast D.C., police say “Police are searching for a man wearing a black shirt with a “Papa John” logo on it who’s wanted for an armed robbery with a knife Friday afternoon in Southeast Washington.”

Fox5DC: 280,000 flags placed at gravesites at Arlington National Cemetery “Thousands of soldiers are honoring our fallen heroes as Memorial Day weekend approaches. Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment took part in the time-honored “Flags-In” tradition, placing American flags at the gravesites at Arlington National Cemetery.”
