The DC Police Union is asking members to fill out the following survey and tell Union leadership which issues you would like to prioritize during the contract negotiation process: • A six-year-old boy died after he was struck by a vehicle near the Bellevue neighborhood yesterday. While the incident was initially described a hit-and-run, police have identified the driver and were interviewing the man. • George McDaniel, 63, was described as missing by authorities. He was last seen in the Edgewood neighborhood, and police are asking for the public’s help in locating him.

Crime Updates

Washington Post: Six-year-old boy killed after being hit by a car in the District “A six-year-old boy was killed Wednesday night when he was struck by a car in Southeast Washington, D.C. police reported. The accident happened in the 4300 block of Livingston Road SE just before 8:30 p.m., said D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham. The child was taken to a hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.”

WUSA9: MISSING: 63-year-old Northeast DC man “The Metropolitan Police Department needs the public’s help finding a missing 63-year-old man. George McDaniel was last seen in the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast D.C. on Monday, May 15.”

Washington Post: Erdogan’s guards clash with protesters outside Turkish ambassador’s D.C. residence “Tuesday’s clash involving protesters and security guards for visiting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan prompted outrage by local and U.S. officials who accused the guards of using violence to quell what had been a peaceful demonstration in Northwest Washington.”

WJLA: Metro attack victim thanks hero who stepped in to help “A George Washington University Law School student who intervened to help a man being attacked at a Metro station reunited with the victim Wednesday and then both spoke to the media.”

Washington Post: D.C. police: Va. woman raised gun at officers, who then fatally shot her “A 41-year-old Virginia woman who was fatally shot by D.C. police officers Tuesday ignored multiple commands to drop a semiautomatic pistol she was pointing in their direction, according to police.”
