Antwan Jones, 31, was shot and killed while sitting inside of a vehicle near Turner Elementary School in the Congress Heights neighborhood. Another man was also shot inside of the vehicle, and authorities are actively investigating the incident. • Bernard Coleman III, 23, was arrested and charged in connection with fatally shooting his father near Congress Heights.

NBC Washington: DC to Expand Police Cadet Training Program “District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser says the city will invest $1.6 million in the expansion of the city’s police cadet training program. Bowser’s office said in a statement Tuesday that the investment will allow the police department to double the number of police cadets from 35 to 70.”

Fox5DC: Metro GM Paul Wiedefeld meets with Congress on funding “Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld is working to make Metro strong and safe again, but in order to do that, funds are needed. So far, Wiedefeld has cut jobs, reduced service and raised fares, but he says it will take an injection of money for years to help run the transportation system. On Wednesday, Wiedefeld took the issue to the U.S. Capitol.”
