Washington Post: 2 shot, 1 fatally, in Northeast Washington “A man was fatally shot and another person was injured Wednesday night in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Northeast Washington, according to D.C. police. The shooting occurred about 9:50 p.m. in the 300 block of 50th Street NE in a courtyard near a three-story apartment building and basketball court.”

Fox5DC: Violent night leaves 2 dead, several shot in parts of DC, Maryland “D.C. police say a man was shot and killed on Galveston Street in Southwest Washington at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Detectives are looking for an unidentified adult male, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, in connection with the killing.”

WJLA: Man, 57, missing; last seen on 4th of July in Northwest D.C., police say “A 57-year-old man is missing Wednesday and was seen on the Fourth of July in Northwest Washington. He was last seen in the 300 block of Varnum Street, NW.”

WJLA: DC man gets 8½ years for sexual abuse of 15-year-old runaway girl: “Urlick Evans, 41, who pled guilty in March, was sentenced Wednesday to 102 months in prison for sexually abusing a 15-year-old runaway girl.”

WJLA: Police: Girl, 12, missing in D.C.; last seen wearing green shirt, multi-colored leggings “A 12-year-old girl is missing Wednesday and was last seen wearing a green t-shirt and multi-colored leggings on July 3 in Southeast Washington.”

Fox5DC: Suspect wounded in police-involved shooting in DC “A suspect was shot in an officer-involved shooting in Northwest D.C. Wednesday night, according to police. The suspect, an adult male, was taken to the hospital and has non-life-threatening injuries. He will be placed under arrest, according to Newsham.”

Fox5DC: Hospital: Rep. Steve Scalise readmitted to ICU, condition downgraded “House Majority Whip Steve Scalise is back in the intensive care unit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center due to concerns by doctors that he has contracted an infection. The Republican congressman has been downgraded from fair to serious condition.”

Fox5DC: Illegal DC paintball battles take place on city streets “Paintball wars in the District – that is trending online right now as videos show dozens of people shooting at each other with paintball guns on the streets in Southeast D.C. City leaders said the problem is not only is it illegal, but it is also dangerous to be around.”

Washington Post: Acquaintances reportedly prove troublesome in D.C. incidents “In the first of these, the police reported, two people were having an argument in downtown Washington, when one struck the other with a broomstick. In the second incident, police said one person came up to another and made threats. After this, the person who made the threats grabbed a cellphone from the second person’s hand and fled.”

WJLA: Cleanup underway after fireworks debris found, damage occurs in D.C. on 4th of July “The amateur fireworks on display Tuesday night in Northeast Washington looked a lot like a professional show. But not only are the fireworks illegal in D.C., the aftermath has left a trail of trash and debris throughout parts of the city.”

Washington Post: Bill pending in D.C. council would slightly diminish tenant rights “D.C. Council member Anita Bonds (D-At Large) introduced the TOPA Accessory Dwelling Unit Act of 2017, which, oversimplified, would exempt owner-occupied, single- family homes with accessory dwelling units — such as basements or garage apartments separate from the main home with their own bathrooms, kitchens and entrances.”

Fox5DC: NYPD officer murdered in ‘unprovoked attack’ “In what the NYPD commissioner called an assassination, a New York City police officer has died after being shot in the head in a police vehicle in the Bronx. Officer Miosotis Familia, 48, died at a hospital early Wednesday. Police say other officers shot and killed the suspect a short time later after he drew a revolver on them.”
