A video was released of a man firing a gun Tuesday afternoon in an incident that took the life of Willie Starkey, 35. The shooting took place behind a laundromat near the Hechinger Mall, and DC Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the person of interest. • Michael Hilliard, 57, was arrested Wednesday morning, after he allegedly groped a woman in the Shaw neighborhood. The suspect has been convicted 20 times of sex abuse, and a judge will determine on Friday whether the suspect will stay in jail until his trial.

Washington Post: Video shows killer opening fire in laundromat parking lot “D.C. police on Thursday released video that shows a gunman firing a weapon during a shooting on Tuesday afternoon that claimed the life of a man behind a laundromat in Northeast Washington. The gunman dressed in puffy hooded coat is seen walking across a parking lot in the 1600 block of Benning Road NE. He stretches out his right hand and fires what appears to be twice, with three witness standing feet away.”
Washington Post: U.S. postal carrier assaulted, robbed of mail in Georgetown, police say “Two men allegedly assaulted a U.S. postal carrier and stole items from his vehicle as he delivered mail in Georgetown. The incident began around noon Jan. 12 in the 1400 block of 33rd Street NW. The postal employee was delivering mail when the two men allegedly broke into his vehicle and took items, according to Frank Schissler, a spokesman for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.”
Washington Post: Man convicted of sex abuse 20 times is accused in new incident “A man who has been convicted 20 times for sexually assaulting women in the District was arrested again this week after police reported another attack — two weeks after the suspect had been charged with groping three other women in Northwest.”
WJLA: Police: Man stabbed in Northeast Washington “A man was stabbed Thursday morning near the Hilltop apartments in Northeast Washington, according to D.C. police. The man was taken to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police say.”
WUSA9: Teens sought after shooting at Minnesota Avenue Metro “Police are still looking for the teenagers who they say shot two teens at the Minnesota Avenue Metro Wednesday afternoon. The scene stretched down Grant St NE where investigators recovered the gun and questioned a groups of teenagers. Those teens and one of the victims are students at Friendship Public Charter School.”

WUSA9: DC Council considers slash to commercial taxes east of Anacostia River “It’s no secret that east of the Anacostia River, the economy can be pretty sluggish. That’s why the D.C. Council is considering a new bill to try and spur more business in the area. The plan is to cut the commercial tax rate east of the river from $1.65 per $100 of assessed value to $0.85 per $100, the equivalent to the residential tax rate.”
