Willie Starkey, 35, was identified as the man who was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon across the street from Hechinger Mall. No suspect information is available at this time, and DC Police are actively investigating the incident. • Authorities are investigating three shootings that took place within an hour on Wednesday. In total, there were seven victims, four of which were juvenile males. • Niyana Carrington, 16, was described as missing by DC Police. She was last seen Tuesday near the Mt. Vernon Triangle neighborhood.

WUSA9: 5 injured in separate SE DC shootings “Five people were injured in two separate shooting in Southeast, D.C. on Wednesday. The first shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. in the area of Mellon Street and Martin Lurther King SE. Police say two men and a women suffered non-life threatening injuries after being shot.”
Washington Post: Man fatally shot in Northeast Washington identified “A man who was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in Northeast Washington has been identified as a 35-year-old, according to D.C. police. Willie Starkey, of Northeast, died at an area hospital shortly after the shooting, which occurred about 2:40 p.m. behind a laundromat in the 1600 block of Benning Road NE.”
Washington Post: Three shootings in an hour on Wednesday in D.C. “D.C. police said they are investigating three shootings that occurred within an hour on Wednesday, two of which involved minors. At around 4:10 p.m., officers responded to Minnesota Avenue and Grant Street NE for the report of a shooting to find two juvenile male victims conscious and breathing. After the shooting, police issued a lookout for a white Volkswagen sedan.”
WUSA9: MISSING: 16-year-old from NW DC “Police need help locating a missing 16-year-old from Northwest, D.C. Niyana Carrington was last seen on Tuesday around 9 a.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Street NW. Niyana is described by police as black female, 5’2” tall, 100-115 pounds, with brown eyes, and black hair and a medium brown complexion.”
Washington Post: Two robberies in an hour on Capitol Hill Tuesday night “Two robberies were reported Tuesday night on Capitol Hill, and one in the downtown area of the District, all within about an hour, according to police. An arrest was made in the downtown robbery, police said.”
Washington Post: Meetings of activists planning to disrupt inauguration were infiltrated by conservative group “In the weeks leading up to President Trump’s inauguration, a small group of activists threatening to disrupt the event tried to keep the details secret. D.C. police detectives worked hard to learn the plans and head the protesters off.”
Washington Post: Explosion erupts in drug vault at D.C. police evidence storage facility “An explosion occurred Wednesday afternoon inside a drug vault at a D.C. police warehouse in Southwest Washington where evidence is stored, according to police and fire officials. The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. in a building near the police training academy in Blue Plains, at the far southwestern tip of the District, near I-295.”
