But it shows a wheelchair rolling along a path toward an apartment gate. Behind it, one man is chasing another. The men maneuver to the right of the chair. Just as they pass, the chair stops moving forward, and the person sitting it slumps over.”

Washington Post: Man fatally shot in Northeast D.C. is identified as neighborhood resident “A man who was fatally shot Tuesday evening in Northeast Washington has been identified as a 44-year-old who lived on the same block where he was attacked, according to law enforcement authorities. Police said Anthony Irving, of Northeast, was shot about 6 p.m. in the 4400 block of Hayes Street NE, in the Deanwood neighborhood.”

Washington Post: Mourning a brother, family asks for help solving D.C.’s first homicide of the year “Now Kent Lewis. who lives in Ashburn, Va., is trying to do one last thing for his brother, after decades of struggling to watch out for Richard: to find someone who can identify the man who killed him.”

WUSA9: MISSING: 24-year-old Southeast D.C. man “The Metropolitan Police Department need the public’s help finding a D.C. man who has been missing since Sunday, Jan. 15. Desmond Hayes, 24, was last seen in the 700 block of 12th Street in Southeast, police said. He’s described as a black male, 6’2” tall and about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police are not sure what he was wearing at the time.”

Washington Post: Off-duty D.C. police officer tries to pull over erratic driver, is fired on “A passenger jumped from a car and opened fire in the middle of a D.C. street Wednesday morning after an off-duty police officer spotted a Mercedes being driven erratically and began following it, police said.”

NBC Washington: National Guard Members Arrive in DC to Support Inauguration Security “More than 7,000 National Guard soldiers and airmen representing 44 states, three U.S. territories and the District of Columbia started arriving in the nation’s capitol Wednesday to support security efforts for the 58th Presidential Inauguration.”

Washington Post: Man apparently sets himself on fire outside Trump Hotel in D.C. “A man was burned Tuesday night after apparently setting himself on fire in the street outside the Trump Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, according to a public safety source with knowledge of the incident. The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly, said that arriving rescue personnel found a 45-year-old man who had been using a lighter and an accelerant.”
