Washington Post: Police arrest man in fatal stabbing of woman in NW apartment building “D.C. police arrested and charged a Northeast man Wednesday on charges that he fatally stabbed a 23-year-old woman found wounded Sunday inside of an co-op apartment building hallway.”

WJLA: Police ask for public’s help locating 4 persons of interest in connection with DC robbery “DC police are asking for the public’s help locating an unarmed robbery that took place at an establishment on Wednesday, December 14. According to police, four persons of interest were caught on surveillance camera.”

WUSA9: MISSING: 16-year-old D.C. girl “Metropolitan Police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing 16-year-old girl from Northeast D.C. Lyrics Watkins was last seen in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street NE around 7 a.m. on January 3, 2017.”

In 2015, crime in both categories was up over the previous year. Nonetheless, the District still had its second-highest homicide total of the decade last year, with 135 slayings.”

Fox5DC: DC bill seeks to provide public restrooms for homeless “It has likely happened to most of us – you are walking around the nation’s capital and you need to use the bathroom, but a local business tells you its bathrooms are for paying customers only. A D.C. council member said that needs to change and she has introduced a bill aiming to give bathroom access to all.”

Washington Post: D.C. gets $3 million settlement from lender that allegedly charged 169 percent interest “A lender that charged interest rates of up to 169 percent to hundreds of D.C. customers will offer almost $3 million in refunds and debt forgiveness after being sued by the city, prosecutors said Wednesday.”

Washington Post: For 1 storm, D.C. spent $40 million on snow removal, some of the funds improperly, audit finds “D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser’s administration spent more than $40 million on snow removal for a single major storm last year, hiring contractors at whatever price they named and paying nearly $700,000 for hotel rooms and meals for workers in violation of federal procurement law, according to an audit.”
