WUSA: MISSING: 17-year-old girl from NW DC “DC police is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 17-year-old Samantha Holmes, who was last seen Friday, January 19, 2018, in the 600 block of Lamont Street, Northwest. She was reported missing on January 26, 2018. Holmes is described as a black female, with medium brown complexion, 5’4” in height, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing black leggings, a gray sweat shirt, green coat with fur lining and black boots.”

NBC Washington: DC Mormon Leader, 61, Dies After Carbon Monoxide Exposure “A top leader in the Washington area’s Mormon community has died following carbon monoxide exposure. James Richard Baird, the president of the Washington, D.C. stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died Thursday. “Everyone I’ve ever talked to that knew him felt like he was their best friend,” his son, Joseph Baird, told News4. “We felt very loved growing up.”“

WUSA: GW students want sorority kicked off campus after sisters post racist photo “Students packed into an auditorium on George Washington University’s campus on Monday night to demand action be taken, after three members of the sorority Alphi Phi posted a picture to Snapchat many say was racially insensitive. The sorority ended up suspending those members and also apologized, calling the picture “racist, ignorant, and harmful.” The statement also said “we recognize there are issues within our organization relating to our privilege and lack of diversity.”“

Washington: D.C.’s open-government watchdog took her job seriously. Then she lost it. “D.C. lawmakers voiced concern Monday about the unexplained removal of the District’s government-transparency watchdog, who said that she faced pushback from other public officials — including in the office of Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) — as she sought to enforce the city’s laws on open meetings and records.”

NBC Washington: Report: High-Speed Train Between DC, Baltimore Down to Two Routes “The proposed path for a high-speed levitating train between Baltimore and Washington has been narrowed down to two choices, according to a report by the Baltimore Business Journal. Both of the routes for the train would run next to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and includes two tunnels, the report said. The Federal Railroad Administration would have final say on which path the 300 mph train would travel.”
