Fox5DC: Police identify man fatally stabbed in Chinatown apartment Saturday “Police have identified a man who was stabbed to death in a Chinatown apartment Saturday night. According to police, homicide detectives are investigating after 56-year-old Gregory Monroe was found with multiple stab wounds inside an apartment at the 400 block of H Street NW at around 5:45 p.m. Monroe was rushed to the hospital, where he died.”

Washington Post: 47 vehicles broken into or damaged in one night in one Northwest D.C. neighborhood “Forty-seven vehicles were broken into or damaged in one night this week in the Shepherd Park neighborhood just off 16th Street in Northwest Washington, according to D.C. police. The break-ins happened between Wednesday evening and early Thursday. All the vehicles that were struck were parked within roughly a mile of each other.”

Washington Post: D.C. police struggling to investigate classroom assault teenager reported before he died “D.C. police have assigned homicide detectives to the case, but they said it is a complex investigation. Statements from Smith-Patterson and a key witness conflict, and authorities have not been able to pinpoint a crime scene. Police Chief Peter Newsham said investigators are reviewing security tapes and interviewing teachers, security guards and other students, some of whom also have special needs, to determine whether there was a crime.”

Washington Post: He was a partner at a major D.C. firm at 33. Now he’s going to prison for 7 years. “A D.C. patent attorney who worked at some of the country’s top law firms ended up laundering more than $2 million for a mysterious fraudster he knew only as “Chief Onwa.” Raymond Ho, a 48-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen, pleaded guilty after getting caught in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement sting operation in which agents posed as traffickers of people and firearms.”

Fox5DC: 10 vehicles involved in crash in Northwest DC “Police in the District say ten vehicles were involved in a crash Monday morning in the Northwest. The crash happened along westbound Military Road between 14th Street and Beach Drive around 6:30 a.m. Images from the scene show a school bus was also involved in the crash. A salt truck has been dispatched to the area. It is unclear if the icy conditions caused the crash. Military Road, between 14th Street and Beach Drive, remain closed at this time.”

Fox5DC: Overnight ice caused early morning trouble for commuters; delays and closings for schools “Black ice made for slick driving conditions early Monday morning as commuters took to the roads after a night of rain and sleet. Multiple crashes were reported around the region causing several roads to close. Dozens of schools across the metro region were delayed.”

NBC Washington: Washington DC VA Medical Center Called ‘High Risk,’ ‘Low Performing’ “The Washington DC VA Medical Center is referred to as “high risk” and “low performing” in an internal agency memo and has been ordered to undergo monthly progress reports until improvements are made. A recent series of infections suffered by patients during IV treatments and long wait times for some mental health patients contributed to the new scrutiny for the giant medical center on Irving Street. Veterans Health Administration Executive-in-Charge Carolyn Clancy issued the memo to a regional agency director in January.”
