Summary

Three people were hurt during a drive-by shooting Saturday night outside the Shaw-Howard University Metro station, police said. Police said the shooting victims were conscious and breathing, and their injuries do not appear life threatening. Police are searching for four suspects. • Police say a man was stabbed multiple times in front of a cheese steak shop early Sunday morning in Adams Morgan. D.C. police say they were flagged down at around 3 a.m. Sunday at the 2400 block of Champlain Street NW by two women and a man, and told them the man had been stabbed. Investigators say the victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds to the back and abdomen with evisceration of his intestines. Police are investigating the cause of the stabbing. Investigators have not identified any suspect or suspects.

Fox5DC: Police: Man stabbed multiple times in Adams Morgan, treated for ‘evisceration of his intestines’ “Police say a man was stabbed multiple times in front of a cheese steak shop early Sunday morning in Adams Morgan. Washington Post: Woman sexually assaulted in Southeast D.C. “D.C. police are seeking help from the public identifying a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Southeast D.C. early Saturday. The alleged assault occurred at approximately 1 a.m. in the 3500 block of 19th Street SE., where the victim was entering her home, according to a news release. The suspect, who carried a handgun, forced the victim into her residence and assaulted her before fleeing, police said. Police described the suspect as a male wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood. They are requesting that anyone with knowledge of the incident call them at (202) 727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 50411.”

Washington Post: Man charged after trying to kidnap a child from a Metrobus, police say “A Northeast Washington man was arrested Friday after he allegedly tried to kidnap a child on a Metrobus. Tony Louis Harding, 40, has been charged with kidnapping in an incident that occurred near Ridge Road and East Capitol Street in Southeast Washington, police said. Harding was on a Metrobus with an adult and child at around 8 p.m. Friday, when he took the child and tried to flee, police said. Harding was apprehended and arrested. Police did not give the age of the child, who was not injured.”

Fox5DC: Video shows person knocking over, damaging DC traffic camera “Investigators have released new video of a person seen damaging a traffic camera last week in the District. D.C. police believe the person shown in the video is responsible for damaging nearly a dozen traffic cameras on Tuesday, February 20. The incidents were reported in areas of Southeast and Northeast D.C.”

Fox5DC: Police search for 17-year-old girl missing from DC “Police are continuing their search for a 17-year-old girl last seen in the District on Friday. Andria Blount was reported missing after she was last seen around 10 a.m. on February 23 in the 5000 block of Kimi Gray Court in Southeast, D.C. Blount is described as a black female with a dark brown complexion. She is 5-feet-1-inch tall and weighs 160 pounds. She has dark hair and brown eyes. Blount was last seen wearing a black coat, tan pants, and red shoes. She may also be in need of medication.”

Washington Post: Education scandals place election year spotlight on D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser “The education crisis unfolding before D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) is the stuff of nightmares for a big-city mayor in an election year. She had to oust her highest-profile appointment, Schools Chancellor Antwan Wilson, last week under pressure from lawmakers and parents outraged after he violated his own policies to place his daughter in a sought-after school with a wait list of more than 600 families. The school system is already under federal investigation amid revelations that one-third of high school diplomas handed out last year were improperly awarded. Parents fed up with the scandals are questioning Bowser’s leadership.”

NBC Washington: I-Team Results: New Law Would Close Loophole, Save DC Homeowners Thousands of Dollars “A new law is in the works to save thousands of dollars for Washington, D.C., homeowners and keep renters from holding up home sales. The new legislation follows a News4 I-Team investigation which exposed how some renters have used an old law to make their landlords pay them huge sums of money. The bill, debated and approved by the D.C. Council’s Housing Committee Friday, addresses problems exposed by News4 last year.”
