The suspect allegedly shot and killed the victim as he attempted to rob people of synthetic marijuana. • A teenager was attacked and robbed by a group of ten juveniles on Tuesday night near the U Street NW corridor. • Authorities are searching for four men who are wanted in connection with robbing and beating a private security guard near the Waterfront Metro station.

Washington Post: Northeast D.C. man arrested in Dec. 6 fatal shooting in Deanwood neighborhood “D.C. police have arrested a suspect in the Dec. 6 shooting of a man who was found dead inside an apartment in Deanwood that authorities described as a place addicts gathered to use drugs.”

Washington Post: Ten youths take part in attack in U Street corridor “A teenager was attacked and robbed Tuesday night in the U Street NW corridor by 10 other youths, D.C. police said. The attack occurred about 6:45 p.m. at 13th and U Streets, said Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman.”

Washington Post: Barbershop owner who was ringleader of $20 million bogus tax scheme sentenced “A Southeast Washington barbershop owner who led a ring that cashed millions in tax refund checks from bogus federal returns and operated with a network of 400 addresses throughout the region was sentenced Tuesday in the scheme.”

Washington Post: Security guard beaten, robbed in store in SW Washington “D.C. police are looking for four men who authorities said robbed a private security guard of his wallet and beat him last week in a store in Southwest Washington. The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of Fourth Street SW, near the Waterfront Metro station. A surveillance video captured part of the assault.”

WUSA9: DC mayor signs Death with Dignity Act “Mayor Muriel Bowser quietly signed legislation that allows terminally ill adults to end their lives with the help of a doctor, on Monday. The council passed the Death with Dignity Act last month, with 11 members voted in favor of it and two against. Even with that level of support, it’s not a done deal. Congress still has 30 days to review the legislation.”

NBC Washington: DC Businessman Jeffrey Thompson to Be Released From Prison “A District of Columbia businessman who poured millions of illegal dollars into political campaigns will be released from prison Wednesday following a 90-day sentence. Jeffrey Thompson will be released from federal prison in Kentucky Wednesday, News4’s Scott MacFarlane reports.”
