Arieyana Forney, 11, was rescued by DC Police after she was allegedly kidnapped by her uncle, Curtis Atkinson, Jr., who is also wanted for killing the girl’s grandparents on Sunday. An Amber Alert was issued for Arieyana Forney before she was found in a car crash late Sunday night near the Tidal Basin. • An image was released of Leonard Martino Smith, 30, who is wanted in connection with the stabbing death of Leonte Butler, 25, in the Bellevue neighborhood. DC Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect.

Fox5DC: 911 call led DC officers to kidnapped girl; uncle arrested after alleged murder in North Carolina “D.C. Police have rescued an 11-year-old who was allegedly kidnapped after her grandparents were slain by her uncle at a North Carolina home. An Amber Alert had been issued for the girl, identified by FOX 46 Charlotte as Arieyana Forney, earlier in the day on Sunday after the double murder at her Charlotte home had been discovered.”

WJLA: D.C. police ask for public’s help locating man connected with homicide of 25-year-old man “D.C. police are asking for the public’s help locating 30-year-old Leonard Martino Smith in connection with the homicide of 25-year-old Leonte Butler. According to police, Butler was stabbed to death on Saturday, March 11 in the 4000 block of South Capitol Street, SE.”

Fox5DC: Eastern Senior High School student arrested for online threats “A 16-year-old D.C. high school student has been arrested for making threats on social media. D.C. police said the male student, a ninth grader at Eastern Senior High School in Northeast, was arrested without incident at his home on Monday after a school administrator notified police about the threatening posts. Police have charged him with felony threats.”

Washington Post: Prosecutors to retry case of D.C. man charged with fatally shooting 15-year-old “Federal prosecutors said Monday that they will retry a District man on second-degree murder charges in the 2015 fatal shooting of a 15-year-old youth, after a D.C. Superior Court jury was unable to reach a verdict last month in the first trial.”

Washington Post: Former D.C. Council member Sharon Ambrose dies “Sharon Ambrose, who served on the D.C. Council for 10 years, died Saturday night at George Washington University Hospital. She was 77 and lived in the District. Her daughter Ellen said she had had several illnesses.”
