DC Crime Summary - October 6th - 13th 2017

There were six homicides and several violent crimes this week in the District. Two people were found fatally shot Sunday, both of them in vehicles in separate incidents in the District, police said. Omar Earl Rodgers, 25, of Southeast Washington, was found in a vehicle about 3:50 a.m. in the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Avenue SE, suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. Police said he died at a hospital. Police said Norman James, 30, of Southeast, was found in a vehicle in the 5100 block of H Street SE. He had been shot at least twice and died at the scene Two people were killed and another was left injured after a triple shooting in Northwest D.C. The shooting was reported just after midnight Wednesday morning in the 6200 block of 8th Street. Investigators say two men were found dead on the scene from gunshot wounds. The third man who was shot was transported to a nearby hospital. • Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed late Tuesday night in Northeast D.C. The shooting was reported around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 5400 block of Hunt Place. Officers have no suspect or motive at this time. D.C. police are investigating an early morning shooting that left a man dead in Northeast, D.C. The shooting was reported around 1:30 a.m. in the 200 block of 54th Street. Police arrived and found an adult man on the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators have no suspect or motive information at this time. • Robbers held up six people at knifepoint within a little more than two hours early Sunday in Northwest Washington, police said. Four victims were robbed in the 1700 block of 15th Street NW about 5:10 a.m. An hour later, another robbery was reported in the 1300 block of Monroe Street NW, and about 7:15 a.m. the final victim was robbed in the 1200 block of Quincy Street NW. A fight broke out among a group of girls and one was stabbed in Southeast Washington early Tuesday morning, D.C. police report. According to police, the stabbing took place around 1 a.m. in the 5200 block of A Street. The girl who did the stabbing was arrested, police confirmed.

Washington Post: Police identify second man killed in Northwest D.C. shooting “D.C. police on Thursday identified a second man who died in a shooting in Northwest Washington on Tuesday night. Sefjuan Jones, 22, of Nashville, N.C., was pronounced dead at a hospital after the shooting near a three-story colonial in the 6200 block of Eighth Street NW, two blocks east of Georgia Avenue in the Brightwood neighborhood.”

Washington Post: Three knifepoint robberies in NW on Sunday “Robbers held up six people at knifepoint within a little more than two hours early Sunday in Northwest Washington, police said. NBC Washington: Woman Dies After Being Hit by Minivan on H Street NE “A woman has died after she was hit by a minivan Saturday morning on H Street NE, D.C. police say. The pedestrian was crossing H Street when the minivan hit her at 10th Street, near the Ben’s Chili Bowl restaurant. First-responders were called about 11:10 a.m., police said.”
WJLA: Police: Fight breaks out among group of girls in Southeast, 1 stabbed “A fight broke out among a group of girls and one was stabbed in Southeast Washington early Tuesday morning, D.C. police report. According to police, the stabbing took place around 1 a.m. in the 5200 block of A Street. The girl who did the stabbing was arrested, police confirmed.”

NBC Washington: Fiery DC Crash Leaves 2 in Critical Condition “Two people pulled from a fiery crash in Southeast D.C. are in critical condition, fire officials say. The car involved in the crash wound up in a ball of flames in a wooded area near 2800 Hillcrest Drive SE. It’s unclear what caused the car to crash and go off of the road.”

Washington Post: Pedestrian fatally struck in Northeast D.C. on Saturday identified as 62-year-old woman “D.C. police on Monday identified a 62-year-old woman as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday on H Street in Northeast Washington. The victim, Jewel Lewis Hall of Northeast Washington, was pronounced dead at a hospital after the accident, which occurred about 11:10 a.m. at 10th and H streets.”

NBC Washington: DC 12-Year-Old Holds Disaster Relief Bake Sale on Her Birthday “Instead of throwing a regular party for her 12th birthday, D.C. resident Priya Allen and her friends hosted a bake sale to benefit disaster victims in Mexico and the Caribbean. “We had a sleepover and got up at 6:40 to clean and bake and get ready,” she said.”
