Special Announcement: Chief Shop Steward of the Court Liaison Division

ANNOUNCEMENT

John Branch, the Chief Shop Steward from Court Liaison has resigned from his elected position.

Pursuant to Article 5.9 of the FOP/MPD By-Laws, within 30 days a Special Election shall be held to elect a replacement to serve out the remainder of the 2016 - 2018 term. The 2016 - 2018 term ends March 31, 2018.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Nominations for individuals seeking this position shall be open from 0700 hours on Monday, May 22, 2017 until 1700 hours on Friday, May 26, 2017. Nominations shall be in writing and must include a signed statement from the nominee indicating that they accept the nomination and specify what position they wish to hold. All written nominations and acceptances must be delivered to the D.C. Police Union Secretary, Jimmy White, at 1524 Pennsylvania, Avenue, Southeast.

If there is more than one nominee for the Chief Steward position, a Special Election will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

ELIGIBILITY

There is a vacancy for the position of Chief Shop Steward of The Court Liaison Division (Officially known as Community Relations Division, General Counsel, Financial Management, EEO, DDRO). This Division covers CLD, HR, DDRO and Internal Affairs (Agents of the Internal Affairs Division are not eligible for this position). Any member assigned to these units, to include administrative staff, or those detailed for more than 90 days (Excluding for non-contact and limited duty), that is in good standing is eligible to be nominated to the position of Chief Steward. (Article 5.2 and 5.4)
