DC Crime Summary – June 23rd - 29th, 2017
There were four homicides and several violent crimes reported in the District this week • Leonte Cox, 23, died early Tuesday morning after he was stabbed multiple times Monday night in the Anacostia neighborhood. No suspect information is available at this time, and DC Police are actively investigating the incident. • Jeffery Lawrence King, 33, was fatally shot Thursday in the Deanwood neighborhood. DC Police are actively investigating the incident, and they are searching for a tall man armed with a gun. • Michael Vest, 29, was beaten and found dead on the front porch of a Trinidad neighborhood home Wednesday morning. The death was ruled a homicide, and DC Police are actively investigating the incident. • Stacey Fenner, 25, was formally charged with assault with a dangerous weapon on Monday, after he allegedly attacked a stranger with an ax outside of the Benning Road Metro station Friday night. • Delonte Wynn, 36, was found guilty in the pre-meditated murder of Darlene Bryant, 46, in July 2015. The suspect is scheduled to be sentenced in September.

Washington Post: Virginia man fatally shot in Northeast Washington “A Virginia man was fatally shot in Northeast Washington early Thursday, police said. About 12:15 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of 46th Street NE for the report of the sounds of gunshots, D.C. police said in a statement.”
Washington Post: Beating may have killed man in D.C.’s Trinidad neighborhood “A man was found dead Wednesday morning on the front porch of a home in Northeast Washington’s Trinidad neighborhood, according to D.C. police, who said they are investigating whether he was fatally beaten.”
Washington Post: Two D.C. men arrested in unconnected fatal shootings “Arrests were made Tuesday in two unrelated D.C. homicides, police said. About 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 9, 2016, officers went to the 4500 block of Quarles Street NE after hearing gunshots, D.C. police said in a statement.”
Washington Post: D.C. man fatally stabbed in Southeast Washington “A D.C. man was fatally stabbed Monday evening in Southeast Washington, police said. At about 9:05 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of R Street SE for a reported aggravated assault, D.C. police said in a statement.”
Washington Post: Man charged with assault with a dangerous weapon in ax attack near Metro “A victim attacked by an ax-wielding stranger said no words were exchanged before the assault outside the Benning Road Metro station in Northeast Friday night, according to court documents.”

Washington Post: Man attacked with ax outside Benning Road Metro station “D.C. police officers said they had to use pepper spray to subdue a man who on Friday attacked a man with an ax outside the Benning Road Metro station in Southeast Washington.”
WJLA: Police: Woman stabbed in Southeast, search is on for suspect “Polices say a woman was stabbed in the upper body in the 1500 block of Independence Ave, Southeast. She is conscious and breathing, according to police.”

Washington Post: Nicholas Addams, 82, dies after being hit by vehicle in Northwest Washington “An 82-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle on Monday while crossing a street near Dupont Circle in Northwest Washington has died of his injuries, according to D.C. police.”
Washington Post: Two killed by train in Northeast Washington “Two people were struck by an Amtrak train and killed late Tuesday night in Northeast Washington, authorities said.”
Washington Post: Police identify body found in Northwest D.C. apartment fire “D.C. police have identified the man found dead in the Northwest Washington apartment building that caught fire Saturday as a 34-year-old D.C. resident.”
WJLA: DC Fire officials rescue 2-year-old boy from hot car, father arrested “It was 88 degrees. The sun beat down on the car’s windows while warm air blew from the vents. A two-year old boy was locked inside—and unconscious.”
